Wingate no more? (Fairfield Inn and Suites)

The Wingate in Lynchburg (now owned by Liberty) is undergoing renovations. I had a hunch that a bigger change might be in the works... My mom is in town and likes to stay there, so when I picked her up this morning I read the permit and it said the use was for "Fairfield Inn and Suites int. and ext. renovations."

A switch to Fairfield... good, bad or indifferent? What say you?

Probably better for business based on branding.

Good. But I'm a highly biased Marriott guy. This will now mean a Courtyard, SpringHill and Fairfield adjacent to campus.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the new Microtel that's almost finished near the mall... it says it's a Wyndham company.

The old Days Inn is also now a La Quinta, after a brief stint as University Inn (I think). I think it's odd that they didn't tear down the restaurant.

That hotel is AMAZING. I stayed there when I came down before move-in, and my parents have already said that's where they are staying every time they come to visit.

You are correct that is being converted to a Fairfield Inn. They are a customer of ours. Sly we put our Advanced DRE system in there and they should have about 90 HD channels.

Of all the things you could randomly pop into you, you choose this?

Marriott properties have that effect on many people.
