Just noticed a reasoning notice for the parcel of land where Sonic currently stands. Apparently, a guy who lives at SML is planning a car wash there. Anyone know about that?

It wouldn't surprise me... But there is an out of business car wash right next door. Are you sure the sign isn't for that location?

I did check that. The rezoning is for the sonic plot and one to the left...part of the current LU entrance.

I always thought Sonic did a good business there? (I was going to say booming but that was too obvious)

Would be sad to see it go...the wife and I made many a trip to Sonic...if it closes I will have to go all the way to Mad Heights for a strawberry limeade when I visit

Sonic is awsome if you're in the mood for some food 20 minutes later

huh...when I went (especially with the wife as we headed on a road trip), we actually got our food pretty quickly a lot of the time. We did have I think one or two times where we had to wait a significant amount of time for service

Sonic's everywhere have terrible service. The one by campus wasn't as bad as most but it was still pretty terrible.

The Sonic near me has terrible service, they're really slow and don't understand the concept of a hamburger no cheese lettuce or tomato, so I usually have to wait an extra 15 minutes for my burger. I was hoping the one by campus was better, because I do really like the food but apparently not. Looks like Buffalo Wild Wings, Chick-Fil-A and Dominos will be my off campus food fixes when I need a taste of something familiar.

My understanding is that once the new tunnels open on Wards Road, the entrance/exit to LU near Sonic will CLOSE, which has to hurt their business.

+1. The ONLY reason it is a "good" location is because of the RR crossing to the university.

Seriously the slowest drive-thru ever.
While we're on closings, I just saw that Father's Table is closing by the end of the month. Their Saturday buffet is the best breakfast in town. Makes me sad.

Then you've obviously never used the Hardee's Drive thru in Amherst or the McDonalds in Appomattox
Best lunch buffet is Meredith's in Madison Heights

I went to sonic most of the time when I was a commuter and the candlers mountain bridge construction made for a traffic nightmare.
It was slow, but it was normally busy and since I had 90 minutes to kill I really never cared. Food was always good though.

Being replaced with a car wash.... Maybe because the one beside it has been so successful.

All three in Lynchburg & Madison Heights have been or are being sold. Murphy Oil bought the one in Mad. Hts. I would guess Wal-mart gas going in there. The one in Forest has not been sold yet.

There's one in Lynchburg and one in MH, where's the third?
The one in Roanoke closed down years ago. Sonic seems to be having some problems.

It was a regular stop for me while I was in Lynchburg. I know the wife and I would always stop there and get food before we hit the road for Portsmouth to visit family...too bad I won't be able to get a strawberry limeade on my visits into town.

Compared to some of the other restaurants on Wards Rd, Sonic isn't much of a loss.

Okay, I misunderstood what he wrote. The one in Forest is now "being sold". Gotcha.
Is the one in Bedford still seasonal, or has it closed for good as well?
