In case you didn't receive it, here is part of an alumni email about the Grand Opening of the Jerry Falwell Library on Wednesday:
At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, we will celebrate the grand opening of the Jerry Falwell Library, a building that not only bears my father’s name but also embodies his vision. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the 4-story, 170,000-square-foot Jerry Falwell Library is a world-class facility that represents the largest investment by Liberty in any structure on campus. Assisting students in their academic pursuits by providing quality learning resources, the library will serve as the heart of the campus for years to come.

Liberty University alumni are invited to be part of this occasion by watching the ribbon-cutting ceremony via a live video stream. Commemorate this milestone in Liberty’s history by sharing your experience on Instagram and Twitter using #JFLibrary and by tagging “Liberty University” on Facebook.

Honor the Past. Embrace the Future.

I'm just anxious to see reaction to the place after all the build-up.

Walked through today. A little confusing to find your way around, but a really cool place to check out. The technology is pretty amazing. They have windows so you can see the book-retrieval robot in action, though I don't think it's operational yet. I was surprised at how crowded it was, the students are really using the space. Seems like the design priorities were 1) study space, 2) technology, 3) lastly books. I guess that's how libraries are evolving now.

Also, it struck me how many employees they have there. That place is putting a lot of people to work.

I guess modern libraries need more IT specialist than librarians these days! Watched the grand opening online. Nice tribute to Doc , loved seeing Robbie! Brought back some memories.

From the one room library at Thomas Road Baptist church during my time at LBC to what is now on Liberty Mtn. And some people think God is dead or does not exist.

Couple questions for those in the know:

What will they be doing with the Guillerman Library? Computer lab, maybe?

Now that the new cafe is full in the Falwell Library, where will Dunkin Donuts be moving?

The old library space is being remodeled to house the School of Education. Move-in date is set for Monday after commencement.

That makes sense. I saw that they already have the curriculum library there, so there you go.
