Our Verizon service seems to be going from bad to worse. Any recommendations for great deals on internet in the 'Burg?

My Verizon did the same thing...switched to Comcast

Comcast. They're pretty terrible, but they're not as bad as Verizon. I have friends that live way out in the sticks of Boonsboro, and they can only get Verizon. They literally have been without Internet for several day because of an outage in their area (and they have Verizon).

We've been pretty happy with Shentel since switching about a year ago. Don't know if it's available at your location or not, but if it is you should consider it.

Our Verizon stinks, too. Only option we had, but Shentel has agreed to install for my neighbor, and several of us on our street will likely be switching to them as soon as possible! I hate Verizon, but haven't had any other choice until now.

It's only been a few months, but so far, despite customer service issues, we've been satisfied with our Comcast internet.

BUMP
We've had Comcast for a number of years, and it seems to be getting slower and slower. We were supposed to have high speed Internet, and when the Comcast guy came out to our house, he said our speed was barely above dial-up.
That was 2 weeks ago, and Comcast still hasn't fixed anything. What are my other options? Mrs. Cider would like speed fast enough to watch her Netflex movies, and I'd like to watch a few away LU games. Please advise.
PS--would the speed increase if I bought my own router from Best Buy and just stayed with Comcast?

I think the internet in general is getting slower and worse. World conspiracy.

Check your router. LAst summer, my parents replaced their router, the internet became much more consistent and faster.
I assume you are asking about a modem from Best Buy and not a router. Comcast doesn't provide routers as far as I know, just the modem.

Yes, I meant to say modem. So you think if I replaced the modem, my speed may increase?

Not sure about that. How old is the modem? YOu could call up Comcast and tell them you'd like a new modem and they might send you a new one. The eventually replaced ours at some point because it was pretty old. I think we had them out here on a service call and they gave us a new one when they realized it was ancient. I can't remember if it improved speed, that was quite a few years ago.
A new router, based on my parents experience, could definitely help though if your router is older than a couple years or so. Not so much with wired speeds, but would help wireless speeds, especially if any of your devices have G or N wireless.
