New Google Aerial Images

It looks like Google's updated their aerial (the equivalent of Bing's "Bird's Eye") images of LU's campus recently with some from last summer. Really fascinating to get an aerial look at all of the changes in progress.
A few observations:
- What's the massive new building at Liberty Ridge? I think someone answered this a few months back, but I completely forget.
- I hadn't seen Liberty Ridge with that old unfinished apartment complex (or whatever it was going to be) demolished until now
- Is the disc golf course gone now?
- Interesting to see how LU's decentralizing parking from an aerial view
-
Did Elmer Towns' property get TP'ed right before these were taken?...

It's an old people home. I think it might be used in conjunction with the nursing department

I know at least some of it is still there. Not sure about the holes up near the new medical building

It's completely gone now, and bulldozers are moving dirt daily.

His place did get TP'd. It's great that it has been memorialized (for a year or two?).

Interesting... I believe I heard somewhere that Liberty Ridge was originally going to be some sort of a retirement community aimed at LU grads until the developers realized that LU was only about 20-some years old at that point. Anyone know if that's true?
Haha... I love that such an epic TP'ing has been frozen in time on Google.

What was known as Liberty Village at the time was a retirement community. It wasn't really aimed at LU grads. Just a completely nonrelated company riding the coat tails of the Liberty name and aimed at whatever retired people that wanted to live there. They sold a bunch of units, built 4, and some models and then went bankrupt taking a lot of old people's money with them. Sad thing to happen and the Liberty name attached to it was not helpful.

The school is hosting a qualifier for the Collegiate Disc Golf championships the 9th and 10th of March, so I'm hoping they're redesigning the holes that were lost. They better not get rid of it until I can get down there to play it
