Hey everyone,

My family and I are relocating to Lynchburg and are looking at the WillowBrook apartments as a place to rent while we look to buy a house. Any thoughts or opinions on the apartments or the area?

Thanks!

Scott

So long as you have several deadbolts and personal fire arms you should be fine! :) Actually I have no idea

I live in Willowbrook and I love it. Its very clean, quiet, and the amenities are nice. If you are looking for an updated look I would request phase 2 (dark cabinets and granite counter tops). I like the location as well..Timberlake is pretty close to most everything in Lynchburg.

We are looking at a 3 bedroom phase 2 with a sunroom.

It appears that the office is 120 Clubhouse Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502 if that gives you any insight into the area Cider.

Haize, how many deadbolts do I need? What kind of ruffians do you folks have over there in VA?

Thanks fan00, glad to hear it is a nice place to live.

I too have heard good things about those apartments. And Tomlin & Associates is, from all I've heard, the best property manager in town.

That's good to hear. I felt I was too old for apartment living, but being realistic, we want ot do some searching before we buy a place. All of the apartment rating sites rate it as the best too. I just hope they have an opening when we are looking to move, in July.

Any connections with the university (work or school)? There is a complex just up the mountain called "Liberty Ridge." I don't know if there will be any vacancies at that time or not.

I have heard of Liberty Ridge but was unable to find really any information about it (floor plans, cost, pictures, etc) so we were only able to base our decision on what was available.

I work for a technology company and am a LU online student right now. Will eventually be taking some resident courses and my wife hopes to become a student. My children will (if they get in) be going to Liberty Christian Academy.

There is a reason you couldn't find out anything online… there isn't anything.

Liberty Ridge was a planned retirement community, but the place went belly up before it got off the ground. Liberty owned the property, sold it, but bought it back from bankruptcy court. If you will be working or taking classes from the university residentially, it is an ideal location. It is "off campus," but it is connected physically to the property… but up the mountain. The units here were "demo" units. There are 7-8 town homes, 4 carriage homes, 4-5 apartments and 5-6 houses.

I looked at the location on Mapquest, and 20 years ago I used to live right across the street on Powtan Drive. That's a decent part of town, close to LU, with lots of restaurants and other businesses on Timberlake.

Plus, you'll be living miles away from Purple Haize, which is always a plus.

Really? Look at it like this. They best place to live is next to a prison. Because the object of the prisoners is to escape. So they aren't going to spend time hanging around next to a prison. They are going to cause mischief further away.......... 8)

You know, when I was a child, I lived next door to a prison. Wouldn't move back. When a prisoner escapes, your door is the first one the authorities kick in during the middle of the night looking for the perp.

Send me a PM and I will look up the contact info. It may or may not be ideal for your situation, but for the convenience it's worth looking in to… The timing would have to be really good though. Units don't generally stay open for long.

And just for that joke… NO SOUP FOR YOU.

Willowbrook seems pretty nice, though I've never been inside a unit there. Actually, a lot of the new apt communities being built seem to be modeled after Willowbrook. And it sounds crazy with it being so close to such a commercialized area, but it's somewhat secluded, which is nice. Most people don't even know it's there.

My wife lived there and said it was rough. Her apartment was broken in to twice, and her neighbors were robbed at gun point. Everybody has different experiences, but hers wasn't good.

Maybe this needs to be moved to the Gun forum over in The Courtyard! :?

Maybe Purple was right and I need to be packing heat if I move there.
