Not to put a damper on the LU ties, but Scales is from Lynchburg; I doubt if Liberty had as much to do with this as other local factors. I'd imagine that the site can't be beat for a company that will probably be shipping sand by rail and I have no doubt that there have been some government dollars offered as an incentive. I would bet money, though, that this doesn't pan out the way local economic dev't officials are predicting. The last announcement like this was a semiconductor business out of NoVa that bought property on Kemper Street with plenty of government incentives. The business never really got off the ground and the building was torn down a few months ago for a road project.
Yes, I am cynical, especially in regards to the local economic development office.
