Give us the lowdown on the Friday Dinner. Since it is in the new Hancock Welcome Center, may I assume that seating will be somewhat limited? And is this repl;acing the old Chancellors Dinner?

How is possible the DI hockey team couldn't schedule a home match for Homecoming weekend?

Any special deals for alumni that weekend at the LaHaye Ice Center or SnowFlex?

Sly, instead of a hockey game, would you and 3 of your smartest friends like to do battle in an alumni Quiz Bowl scrimmage during Homecoming?

I really wish the dinner was something that out of towners with kids in school could actually attend. We're six hours away, and school isn't out until 3:20. Can't even make it for dessert :(

Wish I could make it this year, but my daughter has a performance on Saturday. I'll probably be listening to the game on my phone.

Just curious, but do you think dinner should start around 10:00 PM?

Why does the price per person increase for families larger than 5. This is an ugly kind of discrimination. Who is running this alumni program? :)

That's correct, this is taking the place of the Chancellor's Dinner. This is more of Jerry and Becki's style, something to let them spend time with as many alumni as possible rather than a bunch of working stiffs like me and and Sumitup :D

This Homecoming is going to be more relaxed and fun and really focused on the alumni and their families. You wont see as many (if any at all) stages setup and speeches from people like myself, it's really going to be all about the alumni.

It'll be a carnival type atmosphere with tons of rides and games for the kids, characterture artists, photo booths, balloon guys etc. There will even be a few rides for the grown ups, but please note that we do know about pre-existing health conditions so Purple Haize dont even try to do a few of them and claim back injuries...you seem like the type guy that would sue

All in all it should be a lot of fun and the kids should have a blast with everything we're going to be offering.

Also, to hockey's defense everyone has to sit back and wait for the BSC to release the schedule before we can determine dates like Homecoming. Believe me, Kirk Handy was calling me on a daily basis to see when Homecoming was going to be but he ended up having to make commitments before a date was able to be established. This was not intentional and not for their lack of effort.

I still want to see a downhill mile race late at night on the Friday of homecoming weekend. I pushed that for years and all I got was a stinking 5k on campus at midnight on some random date in April. There is a perfect course that loses about 200 ft. of elevation from the road in front of Wingate down to the back side of the Vines Center. My dream was to have a couple of heats that finished inside with a live feed of the leaders on the big screens. Throw in a couple of bands and some costume or participation competitions between dorms, and you have yourself a pretty fun night that could make someone some extra cash.

Oh, and I really wanted to break 4:30 in the mile and this was probably my only shot at it.

Someone make it happen!

Thanks for the clarification, HMO. It sounds like my entire crew will want to be there on Friday night. As crazy as it sounds, we are leaning toward the Saturday night theater showing after the game.

As many epidurals as I'm sure you've had I'm not even sure you'd feel it...so it seems like you'd be the likely candidate :D

I just saw where they are having the Flames Club meeting at noon on Friday with Coach Gill speaking. Glad to see it works out for the meeting to be when the alumni are in town.
