LU student on "America's Next Top Model"

Mrs. LUminary was watching "America's Next Top Model" last night on the CW Network (fortunately, I was working and didn't have to endure it) and said that one of the contestants, Victoria Henley from Georgia, is an LU student. The series is a college edition, and each wore their college shirts. She wore an LU shirt. Not too sure about some elements of this show, but hope it turns out be good advertising.

She needs to eat more and hit the gym. Would look better with about 20 more pounds on her arms alone. Sorry to be a poor sport. I despise modeling and what it does to the women in the profession. Even worse perhaps is you have 12 year old girls wanting to look like this. IMHO fashion magazines and the like are publications straight from the devil himself.

I wont even look to see what she looks like but I totally disagree with your assessment about fashion magazines. In reality, America would like to pretend these people are "too" skinny, when in fact, we are just "too" fat.

Are the two mutually exclusive?

there might be some wiggle room for both.

No, they are too skinny

I agree, Americans are overweight, an certainly that is a "bigger" issue....but we're not talking about that here. If you want to start another thread on obesity and heart disease go ahead.
Tell me, if you had a 12 year old daughter would you want her reading Vogue or Cosmo? Publications from hell I say!

I got you Haize -
"To the beanpole dames in the magazines, you aint it miss thing"
When I get married and have kids, you won't find a Cosmo in my house, ever. If my future wife doesn't like that, too bad.

Plenty of reasons not read either of those magazines and the size of the models have little or anything to do with it.

Yes, yes it does.
I wouldn't go as far as saying it is from hell, but the model industry from the size of your avg model to the lifestyle endorsed is nothing I want my daughter to ever strive to be like.
The weight of Americans is a totally separate issue all together.

I dated a girl who did some modeling. Nothing big like Vogue or shady like Smooth enjoys. I went to one or two shoots and we both laughed when we saw that there were actually six ZERO dresses. She was a size 6 and I kept teasing her to get in a cat fight with the real skinny ones! Lol

Whats funny to me is I actually pitched this to my editor earlier this summer and she balked at it because she wasn't sure this sort of publicity would be wanted.

Hmmm, fashion designers want all their models to look like 12-year-old boys. Hmmmm.

Haha. If my wife wasn't reading up on the 50 newest ways to please her man in the bedroom, we'd have a problem.

She's an online student, so I doubt it.
