Believe it or not, Texas Roadhouse has won this category the past few years. Whether it is because of name recognition or a lack of experience with some of the other options locally, the national chain somehow keeps coming out on top. Will this be the year the Texan run comes to an end?

I seriously don't understand how Texas Roadhouse could win this category. It's not even the best of the chains.

It is interesting that as Shoemakers has downplayed its steakhouse portion of the menu it seems to be gaining more credit from voters here.

SLY They have gone away from their "Ruth's Criss" image. Their steaks are still GREAT!! However, I still find going to Carson's Hardware (No it is not a mis type) and having a steak cut and grilling at home is the best!

It is on 24 just past the 460/24 light out here. Head to the back. They have a deli and cut their own steaks. Primarily Ribeyes but also have strips. Very reasonable.

shoemakers has not down played their steaks at all. In fact they usually will have one steak variety combined with seafood as a daily special.

SMOOTH - Yes they have a steak special but it wasn't like it was when they first opened. Not a bad thing just a thing! I STILL love their steaks
HENRY - You realize you will have to take them home and cook them? They close like at 6 or something on Saturday so you might wanna pick em up early!! I love telling my "City Friends" i get my best steaks at a hardware store!! Sort of like the biscuits and food at a gas station! (Thomas Terrace Market!)

Agreed, Purple. And some of the local gas stations make the best fried chicken, too.

Main Street should be on the list - they feature a great Kobe steak. Not inexpensive, but we found it preferable to our Ruth's Chris experiences.
