What's up with 460? Shovel ready busy work?

It started with that ridiculous turn off to get onto the road that goes to the Lynchburg landfill. Which at the time was absurd, but just now as I'm typing I realize that they needed it because of all of the new U-turns they're creating by tearing apart every single turning lane around Falwell Airport. Does anybody know the purpose to all of this?

The purpose is to make the road "safer" by taking out all of the median crossovers and adding longer turn lanes for the right hand turns. This is needed because of the added traffic of the Madison Heights bypass.
The ultimate goal is to make the road limited access with no turn offs or stoplights. In my opinion they wasted money building the new jug handle exit to Concord Turnpike because eventually there will be a bridge and exit built somewhere in the area with access roads on either side. They'll have to tear up what they just built.

As someone who drives that way EVERY DAY I am very happy they did this. Too many people pulled out inton traffic and went about 5 mph OR they would floor it, cut across traffic lanes then slam on the breaks getting to one of the turn offs. VERY dangerous. I love the 29 Bypass. My only other thought would be if they could have a dedicated lane for from 460 to the Bypass. That would also avoid alot of craziness.
My only sadness is that MARIO'S closed. They had the best lasagna ANYWHERE!! Plus their Cheese pizza was top notch!

a mile and half trip to the grandparents is now close to 5. I'm fine with it all...just really shocked in how they buy people's homes, not to tear them down, but because their access (driveway) would be closed. If someone tell's the homeless they'll have a field day.
