Thought I'd start a separate topic on this.

LCA has a home game Next Friday the 29th at the Bill. They are playing Red Lion Christian out of PA. They are the school that were recently fetured on ESPN's OTL and the QB is the one that committed to USC at 13. A couple of schools withdrew from playing them because of the allegations.

Here's the OTL story

And a USA Today article: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/fo ... tion_N.htm

their from Delaware, not PA, and a good portion of my friends from Delaware who currently go to LU went there. i might just go to this game.

they apparently had some jersey's stolen worth $3,100.00 that were just returned.

EDIT: more news, from the summer, but still interesting. http://www.delawareonline.com/article/2 ... ly-crusade

for what its worth i always assumed giving out schollys in hs athletics was perfectly legal becuase its what it seemed like what almost every private hs in delaware does. it wasn't until i came here or even read that article that i realized it was illegal.

while maybe recruit is the wrong word, perhaps its... student wanting to go to a good program, and suddenly realizing he can go to said program for free because he cannot afford it otherwise. "need-based aid" is very thin veil imo in hs football in DE.

I would be willing to open my suite for this game to FlameFans. If you interested in attending - let me know. I would love to see this kid play and see LCA distroy them:)

Only can get a limited amount (15) in to box, so first come first serve.

thanks to proto for opening up his suite for the game tonight.Great game with Red Lion winning 37-27, as the lions scored with about 2 minutes left to take the lead and held on after several bad play calls by the LCA offense. David Sills is a good QB for an 8th grader. he threw a lot of slants and throws a good medium ball, but did not throw deep at all. the times LCA got pressure on him he got flustered and the times he was sacked he showed he could not take a hit. he actually left the game for a few plays after one hit. Red Lion's O-line was massive and did a pretty good job of protecting him. his mannerisms off the field showed he was a kid. many times he pushed his teammates off when they tried to approach him, and he always sat alone on the sidelines. apparently Red Lion had several FBS signees including one going to Auburn. A real good game, that LCA could have won.

The local fishwrap had a good article about the game:
Red Lion prevails in passing-oriented showdown with LCA
By Ted Allen
David Sills V, Red Lion Christian’s eighth-grade quarterback bound for Southern Cal, picked the right time to convert the Lions’ first fourth-down completion — following four failed tries — Friday night against Liberty Christian Academy.

Facing fourth-and-4 from the Bulldogs’ 7, trailing 27-23 with 2:35 to go at Liberty University’s Williams Stadium, Sills avoided LCA’s pass rush by releasing a quick slant pass left to Wendell Smallwood, who dived inside the left pylon for the go-ahead score.

If you didn't get a chance to see them yesterday - you can catch most their players playing for Delaware State today...

They were a pretty good team. I think LCA had every opportunity to win this game, but some bad play calling and the inability for Seth Good to get all his receivers (all over the field) involved - just couldn't get the job done. I still think they win a state title this year - they are a really good team.
