I realize the number of Gowalla folks on here is small, but we now have a campus tour trip set up. All you have to do is make sure you friend FlameFans on Gowalla. I am setting up Big South-related trips as well. I can't publish them until I get spots created at a few stray campuses.

While Foursquare continues to generate the most buzz (for whatever reason that I can't discern despite having used the service for nearly a year), I am a huge Gowalla fan. It is especially addicting for anyone who travels. It adds new dimensions to your banal everyday activities. If you have a GPS-enable phone then you need to give this a try.

I stopped doing four square months ago because I just didn't see the point other than getting a free drink at Chicfila. But I've started to get ousted as Mayor of everywhere over the last couple of months.

Yeah, until Foursquare creates a point for their service beyond Mayoral discounts then it really isn't worth the hassle. But Gowalla is a fun alternative. I love collecting items and finishing off trips. Lynchburg doesn't have a robust Gowalla community (primarily folks from Blue Ridge Community Church for some reason) but I still believe if enough people were exposed to Gowalla then it would take off.
