So do you think Tom will get any tea party voters to go with him?

I haven't been following this race very closely (shame on me, it's my district) but I'm fairly surprised that they're describing this as a "competitive race". I know Albemarle is included with us for some reason, but the guy barely squeaked in when everybody was mad at republicans and now that everybody's mad at democrats he's got a record of voting for everything that this district didn't want. I just don't see how he could possibly not lose in a landslide.

Hopefully he will lose in a landslide. However, he has more money and can/has aired more TV spots than Hurt has done.

I moved into Goodlatte's district. My options are Goodlatte or independent Jeff Vanke. I'm leaning towards Vanke.

Actually A-Train, there is also Libertarian Stuart Bain. That's who I'm voting for.

Voting for budget deficits is my main beef with him. Its time to completely shake out Congress IMO. Career politicians who have lost touch NEED TO GO, dems and repubs alike. I like Vanke b/c he published a sensible, practical solution to fast-track balancing the federal budget. Yes, it does include tax increases at first, but they will be cut once the budget is in the black.

Also I think Mark Warner needs to leave the Senate and be governor again. He did a great job as governor of Virginia (Minus the VITA/Northrup Grumman privatizing state computer services deal), but I'm less than impressed with his current performance as Senator.

He seems to be one of the more conservatives members of Congress and is OK in my book. http://www.ontheissues.org/VA/Bob_Goodlatte.htm

And that's your opinion and your right. However, there are several things on there that are unsettling to me, including some of his votes on oil and energy, foreign policy and civil rights.
