Anyone heard if the seminary is close to finding a new President/Dean? Are they looking internally or externally? Just wondering. Dr. Caner seems to have dropped off out of the limelight pretty drastically (he doesn't even tweet anymore).

There were rumors for awhile he had cleaned out his office. He was going to be teaching online classes only this semester. Don't know if that had been confirmed or not.

I would think his tweeting would increase if that were the case.

there was an article in the fishwrap about both the rumor and him teaching online ONLY this fall.

the school actually made an official statement about the whole thing.

I'll look for that.

He is just a normal professor now and will only teach online classes for the time being.

So any rumors on who they're looking at to replace Caner as Dean?

So who is over the school of religion?

huh. Didn't see that coming. I wonder if they couldn't get anybody they liked on such short notice or if Towns is really the guy to head it up. Did they say it was temporary or anything?

Based on some quotes i heard that he made in a class about sex before marraige i would guess this one isn't going to last long either....

evidently he was the dean until 92. At least he has a vision for where he wants to take it. Thats something that every dean should have for their school.

Ben Guiterrez will probably take over as Dean for the School of Religion. Either that or Gabe Etzel.

Did they even have the job open? I mean, Elmer Towns? I think that's just a poor choice. Sorry to be mr. negativo, but it's just disappointing. Why didn't they just bring A. Pierre back?

Etzel's really really good but he's pretty young.

Good point SJ. As for Seminary, I was surprised by the announcement. Due to all of the PR, it made more sense to me to get someone non-Liberty affiliated.

He's been Towns' right hand man for 7 years now. I think he'd do a great job.

Oh I have no doubt that he'd do great. I was just pointing out that he was pretty young so I don't know if Liberty would do it.

If you've ever been in any of his classes, you know tons of things about him as a young man that you don't want to know. Dude used to pray that the 2nd coming would be held off until after his wedding night.
