That's one way to get everyone to opt out of the alert system.

Ehh, I receive 3,000 texts a month this one isnt causing me to panic or take several minutes to unsubscribe for something that took me less than 5 seconds to dispose of

This.

Voting, while important, does not constitute an emergency, in my opinion.

You have unlimited texts. As strange as it sounds, not everyone has unlimited texts.

Really, Jon? I mean, really? You get forty texts an hour.

I wasn't talking about me. I do know there are others that don't though because I've heard that reason from two people.

I thought right away that it was not a good use of this system. Sink hole in a parking lot? yes! Ergun Caner singing take me out to to the ball game at the Hillcats? NO! Fire in Campus north? yes. Go Vote? NO!

I know if I was still going to school I would've been angry...I have never had unlimited texts, and never will. the system is for emergencies, not to send out announcements...but whatever, I don't go there anymore and I guess they can use the system as they wish...but it will make the system less effective...

This is a little off topic, but it is voting related. When I was walking into Convo today, there were dozens of students passing out pamphlets and trying to talk to you about voting. One girl, right by the door, was shouting, "Vote! This election is more important than the presidential election!"

I thought, "Really? Is a local food tax really more important than who is the leader of our country, the leading super power in the free world?" Wow.

Edit: Their post was deleted so my comment makes no sense.

She probably meant to say basically that the local elections have much more of a routine effect on the lives of voters than do the national elections. Poor choice of words though, and perception of that fact is to be expected from an English prof. Well done!
