Got a tweet that said fire drill, one that said fire, and that's about it. I'm away from campus, no way to confirm anything now..

First, there is no "North Campus".....but there is a "Campus North".
Secondly, we evacuated for a while, but after about 45 mins, they said false alarm & let us back in. Someone said they saw smoke toward the LaHaye side of the building.

Warning System

What is really scary is that I received a campus warning system alert almost 3 hours after the event. If it was any later, I could have read it in the News & Advance! What is the point of a campus warning system that doesn't warn you in a timely manner?

I received that warning very late as well.
There was smoke but no fire....all clear.

I hear they're gonna replace the fire alarms with the campus warning alerts.

It was a smoking light ballast. Firemen used heat imaging gear to find it. I got the warning really late.

Rooster was your warning text or email?
Email seemed to be on time while there was a delay on the texts

I didn't get an e-mail. I got a phone call telling me about the fire and to evacuate. Then I got a phone call about 15-20 minutes later saying it was a false alarm and that everything was okay.

I got them both (email and text) about the same time. I got the first one about 30 minutes after I had heard about it. I got the second one about 30 minutes after we heard all was clear and it was a false alarm.

I received the phone call after we had been outside for a bout 20 minutes. I then received the text to exit the building, almost two hours after it all happened. I then received a text at 3 :50 letting me know it was ok to enter the building. I still have not received the email yet. LU should get this together before something major happens and they get sued.
