I was visiting a friend of mine in his dorm (and my dorm from last year) who is getting married next year and he and his fiance are looking for a good outdoor venue in Lynchburg or within close proximity (she wants to have an outdoor wedding). Any of you locals have suggestions?

BJ, I went to an outdoor wedding last summer on the Virginia Dare (cruise ship) at Smith Mountain Lake. And the wedding reception was a dinner cruise. That would be my recommendation.

There's a million of those plantation houses around that pretty much just host weddings. Heck, there's one as close as English Tavern Rd.

I thought they didn't allow people like Beej and his "friends" to get married in this state.

I had my wedding outside at Spring Grove Farm out in Appomattox. It's a bed and breakfast. They have an awesome honeymoon suite, and other rooms for family to stay (before the wedding, don't want them there that night).

as far as I know- BEEJ is straight.

unless you meant that in a racisct, rather than homophobic, way

That brought an interesting thought to my head. Is "homophobia" equivalent to racism? No it's not, but it's always used like that. And a sidebar to that, is anybody really scared of homosexuals? I doubt it. Double sidebar, if you take the root words for homophobia it should really mean a fear of the same or sameness. The gheys hijacked the word from what should be a normal reaction to watching Groundhog Day.

We should be saying "I get really homophobic every time I see a Bill Murray movie".

Aww cmon guys, Im trying to do a service for a friend of mine and his fiance and somebody had to go there...I am absolutely 100% straight (I dont even see why I have to make that point...) and simply trying to tap into the local knowledge on this board for them.

Word to the wise: never stay in a known location on your wedding night, let alone the SAME PLACE as the wedding/reception!

At that point, you're just making it too easy.

Staying there was part of the deal, but we made sure no family were also staying there. Also, we left after the wedding and then came back, no way we were going straight up to the suite.
