Utah was #1, Texas is #21. Scores based off of Gross regional product (per capita), income levels, median housing values, education levels, etc...

Kind of a waste of a survey isn't it? I mean the happiest state has a 69 rating while the unhappiest state has a 61 rating? Not much difference from top to bottom.

it's funny how they define happiness. Based on that criteria I was certain Mississippi was going to be last. Close. I think maybe they should start by doing studies as to what truly makes people happy.

Forbes does a list like this for countries. It's dominated by scandanavian nations with liberal social policies and cradle to grave social service systems. The fact is, you can scew a survey or index to come out any way you want by modifying the questions or the criteria.
