So I saw an advertisement last night for Comcast to upgrade to digital cable for $9.99. Basically I am getting internet, digital cable and a high def box for $52.00 a month for 12 months. They can't even beat that on any packages they offer right now. I would suggest calling before this goes away.

I recommend using Comcast only when there aren't any other options in satellite or cable television.

So pretty much they are the only option in Lynchburg then.

Honestly the price is up there with the quality of channels that Comcast has. Plus you have to sign an agreement.

Not really. We got over twice as many channels and DVR service for two tuners for only about $10 or so more a month with Dish, and that's after special introductory prices for new customers with a middle tiered satellite package (classic silver 200, only think better is classic gold 250 and america's everything pak, and the everything pak is still over 10 bucks cheaper than comcast's best pakage with a lot less channels). With Comcast we had basic cable, no digital cable, no boxes, nothing - just somewhere between 50-60 channels. To get the equivalent on Comcast, we would have had to fork over close to $100 a month, right now with Dish we are paying just a tad bit over $60 a month. THe differences in prices for similar channel offerings is not even close between Comcast and Dish.

Comcast is offering me a deal on internet/tv to come back there that's making it really tempting to go back. We switched over to DirecTV/Verizon in a bundle last summer and don't need the phone part of it anymore so it would save $50 to switch back to Comcast. If they can get us out of the contract with DirecTV/Verizon then we'll go back in a heartbeat.

Is that 50 each or 50 total? And how long does that deal last? I'm sure it's not permanent...

If it wasn't for the NFL Sunday Tickey package, I'd pay to get out of my contract with DirecTV. I've never had more problems with customer service in my life.
Plus everytime it rains the dish goes out for 15 minutes. It's ridiculous.

Its funny ive had directv in multiple states and only during a heavy thunderstorm or downpour have i ever lost signal. Now if you have trees in the way or something else than fine, but a clear line of sight and a rain storm never would consistenly knock out signal.

Same here, but with Dish.

That's a steal of a deal, but what price are they going to be reaming you with when the deal expires?

After a years its 79.99 for Digital Cable and internet and I think $5 for the HD box. Satellite gets pretty ridiculous after a year and you are locked into a contract.

Have you had anyone take a look at that? I know it happens sometimes, but just a little weather should cause that to happen.

What tv package do you have? Before we left for satellite we were paying that much for the worst possible cable tv package available and internet. We moved to satellite and for just 10 bucks a month more (and we still have that price after a year, by the way), we get over triple the number of channels.

Pardon me for saying but why do people NEED 800 channels? I mean I probably watch 10-15 channels with any regularity (not including local channels)

I find myself watching channels on Dish I couldn't get on comcast without forking over my first few children to get the most expensive cable package.

Besides the fact that DirecTV blows and their customer service is akin to having someone rip off your toenails one-by-one? And that you're locked in to their ridiciulous contract and can change just how long you're locked in at any given moment and have zero incentive to let you know about it?
I'm not bitter.
