Has your wife looked on Liberty's Human Resources website? There are dozens of jobs there, both full-time and part-time:

Good luck with that. I've been trying to get a job to supplement my grad assistant salary to no avail. All the jobs around here are for entry level or only require high school degrees, and they find me over qualified for that. The other jobs which i'm not overqualified for, i don't meet their qualifications or don't have the experience.

Did she try any of the temp agencies? I got a former job at nationwide through a temp agency. worked 2 months as a temp...then was hired by nw. Worked there over 5 years while finishing my mdiv. I would try hitting those places...I know some are annoying...but it worked for me.

Welcome to the world of getting your masters without having gotten a real job first. Since most kids are going to grad school to wait out the economy, I imagine this is going to be a fairly big problem in a few years.

How recently did she finish the vocational school. I know a lot of applications ask about that but as a college student in their late 20s (27 as of day after tomorrow) its not like employers are exactly beating down my door to hire me either.

Only reason I did it was because I couldn't get a full-time job in my field. Now I'm getting the experience and the masters, so when I'm done, including internship experience, I'll have 4 years of experience and a masters. If I can't get a job in my field then, well there isn't much else I can do.

She's been a homemaker for the past 10 years... I think a lot of employers look at that and dismiss her out of hand. I don't understand it. During that same time she finished Vocational school online and being a Homemaker is not exactly as easy as a lot of people think.

She's not shooting for the stars in her job search. She's looking for an entry level job, one that should require only a high school diploma. To me it looks like employers would rather take a young high school student over a 30 year old housewife.
They would, for many advantages:
1. Can pay a high schooler less.
2. Train someone with no training at all the way they want them to be trained instead of having to also "deprogram" someone.

I've been looking outside of Lynchburg for jobs right now. So far, only two interviews and I may end up substitute teaching in Campbell County if something doesn't come up soon.

What kind of vocational school did she attend? What skills did she learn?

And most of those seasonal workers are hired for seasonal jobs, meaning those aren't jobs that will be filled again until the Christmas season rolls around...

I think I saw an Administrative Assistant position on the LU Human Resources page at some point...did your wife list that one on her new application? If not she'd need to file an addendum
