La Carreta has been El Jefe for the past few years but Pueblo Viejo and Moes appear to have a strong followings.

I love Moe's, but there's nothing like a Mexican place that does pretty much everything right, and that's La Careta. Never had a bad dish there...

Moe's?? are you serious...i don't mean to be a jerk...but that place is overpriced and not good at all...and i wouldn't call it mexican...

It's not that overpriced, and it's definitely not "Authentic" Mexican, but it doesn't claim to be. In terms of Mexican themed food, it's not bad. Better than QDoba...

Where is that? Never even heard of it.

I went Pueblo Viejo. It's just as good as La Carretta and cheaper.

So it's where Tlaquepaque was before they got shut down.

Right, and it's about a mile from my house, so Mrs. Cider, who's from Texas, loves it there.

I consider myself somewhat of a mexican snob. Somewhat of a connoisseur and I eat Mexican everywhere I travel to. and I just love La Carretta so much. The "critics" on yelp seem to hate it but I don't get that. I think they just hate it because it's so incredibly popular in the area. But I think it's way better than anything I've had in Mexico.

The Yucatan's version of Comida Mexicana is not good at all. Interior Mexico is where you get the good stuff outside of TexMex. flameshaw will back me up on this since he spends time Jalisco where the best true Mexican food is found.

I haven't been to La Carreta in years. But it was adequate back in the day.

My in-laws know every waiter at La Ca; half the time, their order is placed before we get our drinks. My wife knows most of them, and I've gotten to know a couple. Gotta give them the vote, if for no other reason than it's the only Mexican I've ever eaten in the Burg.

 I love the place, but they do happen to "brush up" against the ladies sometimes.

Other than name, I'm betting it is Tlapuepaque; while it existed, it was my favorite, but now my family always wants La Caca.

I don't know that many people have been there, and it's not listed, but La Fogata in Wyndhurst is also very good.

This is my second favorite place to go in the Burg. Tuesday and Thursday night offer some very good "Specials".
