Comcast is a company of idiots. My parents wanted to cancel their service, and Comcast upgraded them up for a cheaper price because everyone is ditching them now. So I just called them and said I was going to switch to DirectTV and my bill just got cut in half and I went from the like 3rd lowest package to the digital plus.

So, if you have comcast, call them and say your switching and you will get better crap.

Also, they said Ondemand isnt available in Lynchburg because the local government wont give them the rights? Anyone know anything about this?

Comcast is made up of idiots

and yes, your right on what you said about everyone leaving them. I posted a while back all you needed to do is say that the tough economic times is causing you to get rid of cable and they'll do everything they can to keep you with discounts and other things.

At the last Flames Club luncheon, JB said to call Comcast and tell them you wanted MASN to watch LU games, because now only Direct TV and Dish Network carry MASN. On a personal note, I switched to Dish Network a year ago to watch Orioles games on MASN.

called them back saying the channels they gave me arent ones I really care for that much, so it wasnt that big of an incentive to keep me, and that I couldnt afford to keep paying it. So, they cut my bill down to $50 a month for the same internet I had before and the upgraded digital cable package

I switched to verizon for $19.99 a month garunteed for two years for DSL. I am getting rid of cable due to priorities and anyting I really want to watch i.e. sports ans tv shows, can be found on the internet. Even if you look at Verizon with the Sattelite package, it is still $70 plus a month. Way too expensive for what I need now.

Well, along these same lines why doesn't Dish carry the Liberty Channel in the local channel package? I hate that.

Then your antenna sux. There is no way in rustburg up where you are that you shouldnt' be picking up a signal that comes from LU's campus......

My wife would LOVE to get the Liberty Channel, but it doesn't come with Dish Network. I bought an antenna, but no luck out in Forest, which is 6 miles from campus.

I get it fine on Timberlake, with no issues. Do you have a powered antenna? I can't think of every Forest boundry with Lynchburg but 6 miles from campus to Forest doesn't seem correct.

I'm over behind the Subway off of 221 in the Maple Hills subdivision. The only antenna I tried was a set of rabbit ears and a UHF antenna. I don't know what a "powered antenna" is.

Yes. All networks as well as TNTHD, ESPNHD, Discovery HD and perhaps a few others are free with the rental of an HD box. More HD channels are available for additional subscription fees.

I will say that given the choice between Comcast and satellite having been in households with both, Id go with satellite. I know at home in Portsmouth we have Cox and its of a much better quality than Comcast

We have Comcast in C'ville and since they took over from Adelphia we haven't had one problem with our Cable modem or TV package. We also get MASN both in the digital package and the HD upgrade - so I got to see LU home games all Fall. My wife's business (she owns it) just signed up for the business package which includes all the HD channels and a premium cable modem deal and On Demand (many current movie offerings) its even better than before. So the boss and her sole employee were watching Valkeryie via On Demand last night. It was a good lesson in how not to conduct a hostile takeover. Sorry you all are having difficulties.

i havent had any problems with comcast. my only problem is I only want like fox, nbc, HGTV, and ESPN and they wont give me just those channels for a low price. they need to have some sort of plan where you pick and choose what channels you pay for. I have no desire to pay for 50 espns, 25 MTVS, and lifetime. Dont charge me for them.

I would happily pay for 50 ESPNs.

I'm just saying, there is no additional charge for the HD channels.
