Limbaugh returns

I guess Red Zebra is taking a different road with WLNI. I didn't hear this myself but somebody told me that a line up change was coming. Limbaugh from 12-3, cutting out an hour from Boortz Hannity still from 3-6, Levin still from 6-7 or 8, and then Clark Howard after him. Savage has been cut.

Sometimes I find Rush Limbaugh interesting, but I am not into politics. My aunt is, though. She listens to Rush everyday...I don't see how one can do that...Oh, and RubberMallet, she has cds of Hannity in her car!

They had Limbaugh on the air when I first arrived in Lynchburg. I believe he went away as a cost cutting measure at some point. At the time I was pretty upset that I wouldn't be able to hear him.

Now I couldn't care less that he's coming back to the market. Funny how times change.

WLNI lost Limbaugh when they expanded its coverage area and didn't want to pay the extra money to Rush's people because of it (Limbaugh is going to charge you more if you're able to reach more people). WLNI punted in favor of an extra hour of the frothing Neal Boortz, and then some other programming.

I wasn't as upset at that as I was when they cut an hour out of Sean Hannity's show so they could have that awful sports talk show.

Still, Limbaugh is the best of the bunch. Hannity just a shill for the Republican party. Boortz reminds me of a B minus student with a temper tantrum. Michael Savage is unbearable. O'Reilly is too full of himself to be taken seriously.

(Uh oh, I just criticized O'Reilly. I must be a Soros-sponsored member of the secular progressive conspiracy that's trying to overthrow America).

Red Zebra actually backed out of the deal a while ago and they are still owned by Centennial. The awful sports show had very good ratings and brought in quit a bit of money  Hence why they cut the 3rd hour of Hannity. I could go on about this but, there is no need for me too.

Stinking Clark Howard is still on. When does Rush hit?

How can you not like Clarke Howard? It's one of the most useful shows you can possibly listen to, right after Glenn Haege and then Car Talk.

Car Talk rules. When I can stay awake, Clarke is helpful, but I must have helpful and entertaining mixed together.

You've done it again, you've wasted another hour listening to Car Tawlk.

Actually WE left to make more money and expand the show Boo-ya! Syndicated on 10 stations and after 10 years together and the guys having kids... being home before 8pm became priority... Had we stayed together we would have been in every market in the state within a year and been on some stations in NC...

Is that what happened? Seems to me like they went to some kind of fall back careers. I always thought it was the worst transition in radio history that did you in. You guys went to your new station, and it wasn't being broadcasted in your original market for like 2 months. I don't think it was on purpose, but that had to have hurt your audience base.

Seeing that I was one of the three people involved. I have a pretty good idea of how everything happened. I will say that it is a huge undertaking to go to syndication. The best model for what we were trying to do is down in Charlotte with Mark Packer (primetime with the pacman) http://www.packsmack.com/. But I can honestly say that changes were going to happen had we kept going. About moving stations, the whole goal was to be in Roanoke from day 1. That almost happened two other times before we decided to expand. Once we made the move and were in Roanoke, the FM signal in Lynchburg which was supposed to be a go from day 1 ran into some snags with towers/land and a few other things... So that hands down was not what we wanted... I could go on about all the other details but there is no need too.. Everybody is dong well and that's all that matters. I certainly wouldn't be down here if it wasn't for my time with the show and being able to start at 14.
