I know you guys know about facebook, but I thought I share my experiences with you about some of the LU basketball players on fb.
Yesterday, I send invites to Bill Weaver, Jeremy Anderson, and Austin Smith. All 3 of them accepted my friend invite. This morning, I checked my fb account to see if there were any more March b-day reminders because I have about 20 fb friends w/ March b-days. Jeremy and Austin have the same birthday as me and Bill's b-day is two days from ours! Needless to say I was quite surprised about this because I never clicked into their profiles before extending an invite. Anyway...
On another note, I have a cousin who plays for the U of MD. He accepts just about anyone on fb. Jacory Harris of the U is the same way. Both of them have quiet, cool, calm, and collected demeanors. All athletes are different. To give you an example, I was denied by Seth not once, but twice on fb like an Alonzo Mourning shot block! Believe it or not, I wasn't disappointed about it. I kind of figured that because I am not a regular on campus student (I take classes online from LU), he didn't know me enough and is cautious about who he invites. I respect that considering that 1) he seems like a private person, 2) the media attention that his big bro got last year has boosted his own maybe unwanted popularity, and 3) there is an Anti-Seth fb group out there. I am wondering if the people who started that group were denied friendship by Seth as well. Hmmm.....

Could we move this to the "17 year old girl's gossip" forum?

Well to be honest with you, I've been a lurker on this forum for about 2 years. Every time I share something, I also get the dreaded "Thanks for sharing, but this has already been posted" reply. Granted this post was in the wrong forum, but it wasn't intended to be "17 year old girl gossip." I considered it to be something that wasn't "old news" and was pretty interesting that 2 LU players shared the same birthday me. That's all, nothing more. How is that gossip? Was it because of the Seth comments? What I said is true an in no way disrespectful to him or his family. Like I said, I totally understand given his celebrity status that the media and certain LU fans have brought.
In the meantime... Respect game, old flame! I'm an online student at LU, but I'm not a young kid either. I will be finishing up my degree in July. With that being said, I expected more maturity and integrity from a flame fans "vet." If you do not like the content I posted, then DO NOT REPLY. If my material is not relevant to ANYTHING or is of SOME importance, then the mods will remove. Like they should.
So now I am at a cross-road here. Do I share my thoughts and risk being disrepected by "people in the know" or do I handle my with the respect that the late Dr. Falwell displayed and the integrity that Jeff and Pastor Johnathan are currently showing in their lives. I choose the later!
....(smh)...And yet some of you guys wonder why people don't contribute anything to the board and/or remain in lurker mode...(smh). Let's get it right!

Thanks Sly!
I did post my comments before folks had their morning coffee. lol. I am not offended, but I expected a little more out of some of the more mature members from this board.

Last Thursday I found out while heading into the court room for my child's adoption finalization hearing that I was going to be called under oath to testify to birthdays and anniversaries for my entire family. Petrifed because I would not have a daytimer, I convinced the lawyer during the opening proceedings to have my wife called first which I guess is not normal procedure. My wife didn't know what I was doing but she had no choice once they called her. She knew all the answers and I got some softball questions afterward.
All that to say discussions on birthdays and who likes who probably isn't the most stimulating conversation for me, but welcome to the board.

First off, thank you for "welcoming" me to the board....

I think Seth just started hitting the ignore all button after all that media fame. He just doesnt want haters writing on his wall, he also doesnt want people who don't know him to tell him how much they love him, you cant really blame him tho. Steph started doing the same thing last year.

My post was intended as a joke blessed1. We do that around here.

In any event, I mainly didn't think it had anything to do with basketball. No disrespect intended. I hope you stay. Your skin gets thicker after hanging around here for a while, and that's a good thing IMHO. Actually, the part of your post that "inspired" my comment wasn't the birthdays, it was the stuff about who accepted and rejected you as a "friend". Go back and read it yourself and see what you think.
Hey, what can I say. I'm an

who unlike many of my peers has resisted participating in the facebook/myspace thing. I just had a close friend who is several years older than me (66) and lives overseas ask me to join and be his friend as an easy way to stay in touch, and I'll probably do it when I feel inspired.

I kind of figured that too. The only reason why I send out invites is to stay in touch with the players. I wish them well before or after a game periodically and wish them happy b-day when the time is right, that's it! I am not a male groupie or some crazy fanatic.
It's a shame that people would stoop that low to post negative remarks on a social board, but it happens. Like I said earlier, I totally respect where Seth and Steph are coming from. Facebook has a "become a fan" feature on their site. I might go that route instead. Anyway, life goes on....

Ok oldflame, I forgive you.

No harm, no foul! lol. I have thick skin. Trust me, after all the anti-Obama posts on here, I learned that you can't take things too personal. But uh, you gotta admit it was way too early in the morning to joke like that bro...I mean seriously....waaaaayyyyy too early!
