An announcement was made in Convocation today about a new drama theatre that will be built inside the top of the tower on North Campus. Seating capacity will be around 700. Great news for the theatre department and Prof. Linda Nell Cooper!

I swear this is like plan F for that tower. It was gonna be an IMAX theater, I think JF was gonna have an office up here, I had heard there was gonna be an alumni lounge up there, possibly a launch site for our own nuclear warheads. Pick something and stick with it!

and even last year wasnt it supposed to be turned into a 7 story student lounge with an atrium in the middle? i thought that was part of the big 5 year plan

That's a good thing though...it shows that JLFJR is not willing to rush anything until its well thought out and appears to be the perfect solution for an open area.

Also I believe the lounge is still the idea for the top of the tower just not going to happen at the same time as the theater

I think with a bigger theater (when it finally opens) we would be able to attempt bigger more elaborate shows (like say Wicked)

Should have kept using it for it's original purpose.

Artificial lightning is awesome.

Fantastic! We have one at Regent, and it really adds to our campus and our theater department. Plus, it's great for events such as alumni weekends and hosting guests...

Wicked, huh? I've seen that show. Maybe this theater isn't such a good idea after all.

That's pretty neat looking. Is that the lounge on the top?

so if thats a student lounge, wont they have to close it every time there is a production so you dont hear people upstairs while your watching a play

alumni lounge. Student's don't need anymore lounges. Alumni don't have anywhere to lounge.

haha...that was the first example that came to mind...but youd have to think that once this finally happens that something like that could be done
