This will seem like a self promotion for Prototype - And don't be mistaken - IT IS :)

As most of you know - I own Prototype Advertising, which started the Smith Mountain Laker, Lynchburg Living and Valley Living. We are about to expand once again in the publishing world with the first magazine that I'm actually excited about. Not that our Lifestyle and Entertainment Magazines aren't nice, but my passion is sports. In August the first ever issue of Virginia Sports Report (VSR) will be printed.

What is VSR? VSR is a full color glossy magazine dedicated to High School and College Athletics. Will focus in those two, but also will include unique stories about Outdoor Recreational Sports and Professional Sports also. All from the Commonwealth of Virginia. It will be sold at statewide distribution points, such as Wal-Mart, 7 Elevens, Targets, Food Lions, etc... And we will be sending subscriptions out all over the Country. It will be $5.95 on the shelves at Retail locations, but available for over 33% less if purchase as a subscription for $39.95 per year (10 Issues - June and July there will be a break).

Start Self Promotion - Now:

We need your help. We are starting to build our subscription List and we need your help getting the word out. It will be an awesome publication. August will be the first Issue and will be a full High School and College Football Preview. Yes, Liberty will be included and highlighted. Sammy, our managing Editor, has put together over 30 writers from all over the state to write for us, all very talented and in the KNOW, including:

Justin Ditmore - former sports director, WSLS 10, Roanoke
Mike Stevens - WDBJ 7, Roanoke
Lane Casadonte - WTVR 6, Richmond
Marc Davis - WCAV 19, Charlottesville
BJ Koubaroulis - The Connection Newspapers, northern Virginia
Seth Bartee - Bristol Herald Courier
Eric Moore - onnidan.com
Christopher Nahlik - CAAZone.com
Pat Cummings - d3football.com
Pat Coleman - d3hoops.com

I would love to get you and your friends to buy a subscription for less than $4.00 per Issue and it's a money back guarantee. If at any time you think the magazine stinks or your not enjoying it - send it back to us and we will refund the remaining issues - that's how sure we know you will like it. We are in the process of launching our website that will give our potential Subscribers a place to sign-up and pay online. But we don't want to charge the cards until August. At this time we are just going grass roots. If you want to purchase a subscription - please send me an email at josh@prototypeadvertising.com. Include Your Full Name, Address you want the magazine Sent to, Phone, and Email. You will be billed for the magazine in August.

And if you need extra incentive - Put Flame Fans on your email (or have your friends put it on the email) and I will give 10% of all subscriptions raised back to FlameFans.com. I will start another Thread to vote on what we should do with the money, i.e. Give it back to the board itself to cover hosting charges, donate it to Liberty Athletics on behalf of FlamesFans.com, etc...

Again to recap -

Subscription to VSR - Virginia Sports Report
$39.95 per Year - 10 Issues
Send Email to josh@prototypeadvertising.com
Include - Name, Address, Phone and Email.
We will bill you AND 10% GOES BACK TO FLAMESFANS.COM

Thanks for your consideration,
Josh

Hey, Josh. I saw you guys out at the Flames Club golf outing on Friday. I didn't get the chance to come over to your table and find out what VSR was but, going off your description, it sounds pretty interesting.
Side note: I saw a guy w/ you at the table who looked an awful lot like someone (I can't remember his name) who used to be one of the weekend sports guys on WSLS. If so, I was wondering whatever happened to him. He always seemed like he knew what he was talking about even though he couldn't read off a teleprompter to save his life. I'm glad he seems to have landed on his feet.

Hopefully you can get Roberts from over in Roanoke involved--he's a big proponent of HS and college sports--and that Lang guy, too, might be a good contributor.

Thanks for the generosity, Proto. I sincerely hope your launch is successful. If you need any features from over here in Houston on your Wahoo boys named Wali (Lundy & Rainer) I can hook you up.

BTW what are the odds of two cats named Wali going to the same college and then playing for the same NFL team?

Though I'm sure you've covered your bases pretty well concerning information sources, down here in Hampton Roads two of the local stations have extensive high school football round-ups during the fall on Friday nights. Here are the sites,

Countdown to the Launch of VSR - 5 Days, 19 Hours and 39 Seconds. :)

It looks good. Not a lot of Liberty the first issue, but that's only becuase it's a football preview and we had so many teams to cover between College and High School.

Don't forget - if you want the first issue free, IM me your address and I'll send one to you free. Offer ends the 20th, then the didtributors won't allow us to send out many copies for free.

A buddy and former co-worker of mine just got a Sports Director gig at one of the Tidewater (old school) affiliates.

And Wali Raider is out for the year down here in Houston.

If you have already sent me a request for a free issue, expect it in your mailbox on or around the 16th.

If you haven't signed up yet to receive a subscription or would like to refer LU friends to get one, please go to www.vsronline.com, click on one of the three options, they go to the same place, until the 30th, when the site goes completely live. Then click on Get a Subscription to VSR - and your on your way to getting the most information on Virginia College and High School Sports available anywhere.

Thanks for your support.

After Wali Lundy's impressive preseason debut last night for the Texans, my offer still stands to do a story. And if you have anymore copies left over after your sales are completed, I'd love to see a copy as well down here in Houston.

Yeah - the clubs bought them to put them into their clubs. Subscriptions were sent out wednesday. They normally will be sent out on the 15th of each month, but we held them back because 12K were going to VT Boosters in a pre-arranged mailer, and we wanted to launch them all at once.

Liberty will get on the cover, first issue? Come on how credible of a sports resource can we be if we look to much like a homer the forst issue? :)

And your story seems a little far fetched - you working out??? Come on, and Josh McRoberts just transfered in.
