Tilley Student Center

It was mentioned in another thread but I thought it deserved its own thread.

If you haven't been over there yet, it's something worth checking out. It's what the school's been needing for a while. It's a place where students can go and just hang out. It's got tables to play cards at. It's got couches and chairs to sit around with your friends. There's a separate pool/ping pong room.

Best of all, for me at least, is that this place could really turn into a place to have shows for local bands. There's nowhere else in Lynchburg for up and coming bands to play at and this looks like it will be a great place for shows.

It's not in the tower. It's right next to Lahaye.

i've been going to shows for local bands since high school, I haven't gone recently but they still happen but not as frequently as they did in high school but there also aren't as many of them either.

SuperJon, The Center still is not finished. The TVs, sound system, projector for football games, etc. are on order.

the spiral staircase going up the tower will make you really dizzy if you run up it too fast. and it is pretty high too. I want to go on the roof of that thing

That might be a dress code violation, RTF...
...and besides...do the powers that be REALLY want our students to let their hair down?

Went to the concert there tonight. Really liked the layout, seems like a very cool place to hang out and such. Very loud, tho. Which is a good thing and a bad thing.

I was in there for a bit tonight as well. I think what needs to be added is some sound proofing around the side. Much like the Vines Center sound is bouncing all over the place in there. the layout is amazing though, that is for sure.

The only thing I can complain about in terms of the layout is the speakers are too far from the stage. What I mean is that if you're standing right in front of the stage, where most people like to stand for a show, you can't hear the music. During Get Up Soldier I stood in front of Trey and all I heard was his amp. After two songs I moved back and could hear everything a lot better.
