I fit that demographic--and had Jersey Mike's Chicken Parm. sub today. Again, I was impressed by this sandwich, too. Honestly, I think the soft warm bread is the best part of the sub, so I'll have to respectfully disagree with my friend Kel.

I went there and got the chicken philly. Definatly the best Phillies in town
next time I'm down you guys are taking me there and I'LL be the judge of just how "Philly" they are.

the real question is- what bread are they using? If it aint Amoroso's then don't even talk to me.

Funny you mention Amoroso's. We have a sandwich shop here in Tucson,AZ called Frank's that only makes his cheesesteaks with Amoroso's. He's a Philly guy. I say this only because it's nice to get some validation that someone is trying to make a good product here in the desert.

Not sure if I've mentioned it yet but yall need to go to Micci Pichue (spelling is way off) but it's downtown next to startlight cafe and their lunch is only $5 or $6 bucks...and its some of the best food you'll eat I promise...get the beer battered chicken on a bed of rice (Arozzo?)

Try it...you'll be hooked

Good call on Machu Pichu. A different twist on lunch and very good!
Plus, I usually when I eat lunch at Merridiths, I go next door and rent a larger recliner!

I said the best "in town". The Philly Steak-out was 100 times better but it's not here anymore.

Has anyone been over to Philla-deli over in Boonesboro? I wonder how their cheese steak compares to Jersey Mike's.

Well, I have had steaks at two of the big places in Phillie--you know who--and threw out half of each sandwich they were that bad. I'm sure there are better but those places sucked. I still like them at Stewart's Root Beer in Washington NJ the best.

Funny. You here such good things about Pat and Geno's. I watched a piece on the travel channel yesterday about the two places. It didn't look to appetizing to me. Cheeze whiz on a sub....strange.

To each his own.

When we went last year, it seemed pretty subpar but the cheese whiz was the one redeeming quality to it. I wish another joint with better cheesesteaks would put that on theirs. Oh and it be near here.

genos & pats are overpriced tourist traps along with tony lukes.
Most of the love for the above come from people from outside the region that don't know any better.
best in the city? Nicks roast beef (south philly baby!) & John's (northeast) & Jim's steaks (South Street) always rule among the locals.
There are dozens of steak shops in the city and 'burbs that make an outstanding "cheesesteak with".

I watched the same show...I would have to try both...but without that option, I would try whatever one had the chopped up steak...it just looked better.

The Philly Steak at Jersey Mike's was pretty good, but I'd still rank the South Street Cheese Steak at Ledo's ahead of it.

Our Ledo's at Ward's Crossing does have a "cheese & steak" sub, but no mention of South Street: http://www.ledopizza.com/menu_subs.html

If you go in to our Ledo, you will find several "South Street" items... a sandwich, pizza, and waffle fries. They aren't great, but worth the price.

Went there today. Had the Tacu-Tacu. It was very, very good. Only $5.99.

I also tried a piece of cheesecake (which I normally don't like). It was from the Cheesecake Factory & wasn't too bad.
