The crab dip is a great appetizer. I thought their prices were reasonable. Another great place downtown is Main Street Eatery. http://mainstreeteatery.com/ It's definitely more upscale (think Crown Sterling-type prices). Crown Sterling was always a favorite of mine for special occasions but Main Street is not a bad choice. Nothing tops Frankie Rowland's http://www.frankierowlandssteakhouse.com/ in Roanoke for best steaks ever but The Library comes close. http://thelibraryrestaurant.com/

I hate hate hate, the main street eatery. There's only like 2 entrees under $20 and what I got just simply wasn't good. I went there one time and I felt like I was robbed. It'd be a good place to go just for dessert. They have a good cheesecake. Other than that, I would not recomend it to anybody.

gotta disagree about main street. but that is a pricey place, so not unless you want to impress, you should probably skip it. i highly recommend the roasted duck...very tasty. and HMO, i never pictured you as a "tuna" guy and for that matter why are you eating choicken tenders at a place like depot?? go to chick fil-a brother!

Main Street is one place I haven't been yet, but I'm pretty sure the wife just recently got a gift certificate (or whatever they have) from someone. Guess it won't be too long before I can rate it.

It's hard to find GREAT food made with wines and other sauces here in the berg

See my post about Faria's Twin Oaks in Forest....hands down the best fine food & at a very reasonable price (for fine food). They don't cook anything until you order.....but everything is fresh.

Ate at the Depot for Lunch over homecoming weekend.

Service is excellent, atmosphere is unique (some of seats are old church pews) and our lunch was very good.

The chicken tenders are "not your usual chicken tenders." While they are deep fried, the batter is soft and the meat thick and moist, almost like battered fish. Delicious!

I've also eaten at Main Street but its been a while. It was good, that I remember.

There chicken tenders are great for a lunch and trust me, they are nothing like chick-fila. Best tenders you'll ever eat. Our waiter actually said they were one of the best things on the menu.

If it was dinner, I would have never ordered chicken tenders, but for lunch, why not?

Yeah.....& don't give me any of that McDonald's & Hardee's crap.
i got one for around 4 bucks at chic-fil-a the other week.
Yeah, and Chick-fil-a's grilled chicken sandwich pretty much sucks. Their fried sandwich is the best anywhere, but grilled, not so much. You're comparing apples and oranges here on every level.

Maybe you're just not in Depot's target market. In fact, I'd recommend you steer clear, because the staff there works hard and their servers deserve more of a tip than you would probably leave.

I'm with the others who say this is one of the best places in town. I've always liked the food there and the atmosphere is great.

I got a bite from Depot last semester while I was waiting for a Civil War event that I was volunteering at (it was REALLY hot out that day). I thoroughly enjoyed the burger I ordered. I definitely would go back there about once a month at least if I could

I think I will be spending the weekend in Lynchburg attending the VMI game and staying through Tuesday to cover the Coker game for FTN. I will have to get back down there over the weekend. Me and MRS SCAR really liked that place and when we would come home on weekends we would go there sometimes. Their buffalo chicken tenders are amazing! I get it on a salad.

Very good but would be better for four people as you share small plates. We had 5 plates for the two of us and it was too much food. Very chic crowd for the Burg. Pretty spendy if you hit the wine bar. We ended up spending nearly $90 for two including tax and tip.

Made are usual trip out to Sedalia for the Millstone Tea Room. Great as usual. A real gem.

How was Millstone's menu? I'm wondering how different it was since the last time I went...maybe a few months ago...I had Ox tongue then...that was different but good

I wanted to go to dish with a big group the other night (and my buddy was paying!) but then I realized I was hungry and didnt think I'd get nearly enough there even if I ordered several plates...and I wasnt to sold on their menu choices as well.

They had several meat and seafood choices on the dinner menu we looked at ( we went for brunch sunday). Brunch has the excellent shrimp and grits, a meat rich meat and egg and potatoes dish, the chicken and tuna salad which my wife loves, and several other breakfast and lunch items. Not a huge selection but enough for most. If you just want ham and eggs you have better choices elsewhere. I also has the battered shrimp starter and it was great. My wife went with dessert. We both left full and happy.
At Dish we had the meatballs, fried quail, cheese plate, corn chowder, and shrimp with spicy somethings. We could not eat all of it and left half the cheese and soup which were both very good. Just too much food. Also excellent bread. Just the cheese plate would fill one person. Good sized servings of four cheeses, fruit and crisped bread.

I got a burger. My wife got the chicken tenders that you gave such glorious ratings on!

The food was decent. The atmosphere was nice. It was everything else that ruined it.

When we first get seated, the table next to us is complaining about how bad the rolls are. The waitress has brought them two servings of them and each time they said they were hard as bricks. So, I planned on ours being the same way. The waitress brought out the bread and two plates. I grab my plate and then a piece of bread to begin munching away. Then, my wife grabs her plate and there is salsa all over it. I looked on the bottom of my plate, and the rest of the salsa was there. The waitress didn't apologize or anything for that.

Then she brings our food. I began eating the fries which were decent, but only to realize there was a hair on my plate where the fries used to be.

It was an interesting place, and I'm glad I went there but I'll never go back.
