Alright all you armchair engineers and people who have never lived on a circle dorm more than a day in your life, you don't know what you're talking about, so stop pretending. The circle dorms are fine, so quit crying about it. Golly gosh goodness, sj, why don't you personally inspect each one and hand the university your bill, I'm sure they will bow to your expertise. And loan talk? What the heck sense does that make? Is this coastal logic? The hill dorms are in worse shape than the circle dorms, if you're going to be tearing stuff up, start up there.

My, my, even my 3-year old understands the concept of chicken little. What's going on around here?

Good grief. I can already see where the zing from that one is going to come from. Please don't feed the monkey.

Right, considering things like this is what I do for a living. I don't know what I'm talking about.

You, me, outside the rot, 5:30, after I pick up my kids, I want them to see this.

No the hill dorms aren't worse, thats just obvious. Sorry you can rant on the other stuff, but i gotta call you on that obvious oversight.

How is that an obvious oversight? I'm no engineer, but those hill dorms are going to fall like dominos in the next two months, mark my words.

Didn't they just remodel the hill dorms last year?

Yeah, nothing major. New closets/floors.

As I understand it, Dorm 5 has already collapsed onto Dorm 3 and they can't be separated. The residents of Dorm Threeve have yet to notice.

Ahhhh. Well they did the brick veneer on the outside so I wasn't sure if it was something more substantial or not.

I lived in the circle dorms for the 2 1/2 years I was on campus...and to say they are in bad shape is an understatement...there were pipes the bursted several times causing them to move 2 rooms out...leaking all the time...they are in terrible shape...and the fact of the matter is liberty wants to get rid of them, but has other things they feel is more important...I hope this changes soon, because it won't be long until more problems arise in other dorms...more so then the problems they already have...

a know a lot of alumni have the attitude that they had it much worse when they were college...4 in a room...and all that...and its true, that does suck, but don't you want to see Liberty's campus become the best that it can be???

Yep two years ago we had an electrical fire above my cieling

Last year the drain pipe in the middle of the bathroom was shooting water 4 feet in the air

Hooray for 26, whoch in this case only the lock system in a main door didnt work. And that was only for a couple weeks

We had that, and it was definately a sewage back up. I don't think I ever went back into that bathroom again.

Kids and parents don't sound too happy, and quite frankly, I don't blame them:
Mark Hine, vice president for student affairs, said the room is the same size as other dorms but houses a server and information technology equipment.

“So there’s an IT tower that takes up part of the room,” Hine said. Students have been placed three to a room, he said, just like in their regular dorms.

Low said the room has no air conditioning and was not properly cleaned. He didn’t feel comfortable sleeping on a mattress that the school provided, so he bought an air mattress instead.

ok...not unless someone on this board is a structural engineer shut it. we all agree that this is bad, and it needs to be fixed....obviously. LU has never been a place that takes care of it's buildings and now it has come back to bite them in the tail. should the circle dorms be torn down?? who knows. im sure the administration has a study comparing major renovations or building new dorms and now they will have to act on it sooner or later. so everyone relax and quit thinking you are all knowing on this subject. i just feel sorry for the kids who had to move, im sure that was a pain!

this situation sucks...but come on...no college in America would be calling parents about this thing....start treating your kids like a freaking adult...he will be alright...

thats the only kid that was really complaining hardcore in that group....maybe he needs this in his life, it will toughen him up

seriously though...I still hope this is the little nudge they will need to replace those dorms...if not, when i am rich, i will make sure it gets done...or something
