PeterParker said: When all the stores from River Ridge mall bolt for the new mall, buy River Ridge on the cheap, level it and put your LU/City Partnership state of the Art Showpiece there...easy access to the general population, plenty of parking to hold you over until you need to build a parking garage...oh, you mean in reality, maybe put it where the Circle dorms are now.
PeterParker said: That's interesting information...if the scenario played out that River Ridge went under for some reason, what would be the chances that LU would make a bid at getting their hands on that piece of real estate? Even if they didn't develop it and held onto it, it's increase in value over the coming years would provide a nice piece of collateral for future plans.
Whatever new development LU does do for the campus parts, IMO they should tap the expertise of these guys (they are tapped to do the buildout of the entire Vedanta University--see http://flamefans.com/viewtopic.php?t=1700), they specialize in building compelling academic buildings. Duke, Syracuse and Messiah, among others, have utilized these guys to design their projects.

WLNI is reporting this morning that, yesterday, LU filed the application for permits to build the open air mall.I wouldnt be surprised if they read our board from time to time. We do a lot of local discussion, and they always seem to be talking about what we're talking about. I guess it could be just coincidental, since it's all current events though.
The new mall will be called Crossroads Colonnade because it is located near the intersection of U.S. 460 and U.S. 29 South.Anybody got a pronunciation? Who names a mall after a cross between a colon and lemonade?

Crossroads Colonnade...a cross between a colon and lemonade?'Sounds like the newest drink at Sonic. What time does happy hour start?

Is it just me or doesn't the RR location seem to be a superior better retail location than the proposed sites? Why not bulldoze RR (like nearly every mall in America is having done right now) and build the new outdoor one there?

Fumblerooskies wrote:$20 million would be a nice START to the university's endowment...Heck, we could take that 20 mill and stick it in an online savings account and earn 1 mill per year. I'm sure we could do better but that's FDIC 0% risk.
...or wise use to purchase River Ridge Mall for the site of a future MED. SCHOOL and CIVIC CENTER complex.
