One of the comments on that News Advance thread got it right: Keith, pull your head out of the sand and open your eyes. 75% of the city's sales tax revenue comes from businesses on and near Wards Road. Any city with any common sense would make sure shoppers in that area have safe pedestrian walkways. Heck, almost every other street in town has sidewalks and those streets don't produce anywhere near the tax revenue that Wards Road does. The astonishing thing to me is that it took SO LONG to get sidewalks on Wards Road!..

I used to read them but all it does is make me want to respond...and well, that's like talking to a wall.

You would have thought the economic report LU made available last year (or maybe year before) would have stopped some of the ignorance. Unfortunately I had way to much faith in some of our residents. Some is the key word there because often times the perception is the posters represent a mass. Most of the posters are posting and quoting their own posts under a different name...literally talking to themself. I wonder if that's still the case with the posters.

What did we used to hear quite often...if you dont have anyone against you then you're doing something wrong. Something along those lines, the principle remains the same.

Based on the story on www.liberty.edu today, there has been no delay. WSET just dreamed that up apparently.

I also learned today that all the posters on FF are really just SLY and HMO using different identities. I am only the third real person to post comments on this board.

 Now your understanding why "everybody is taking a break" at the same time I was during my 2 month hiatus from FF.

The Ministry of Truth thanks you for setting the record straight so we don't have to do it.

I read somewhere that a fence will be built the entire length of the railroad on campus. Students will have no choice but to use the tunnel and bridge.

How will a fence force them to use the bridge? I can see forcing them to use the tunnel with a fence, but are you telling us that there will be a continuous fence from the tunnel (when it is built) to the bridge with no outlet? That's nonsense.

I read the WSET comments and I think its safe to say that some people are just bitter...if LU wasnt as wildly successful as it was and didnt have the economic impact that they did (from a consumer and employer perspective), a) Wards Rd wouldnt extend as far as it does b) Lynchburg would probably be a much more boring town (which those people probably would prefer)...as if it isnt boring enough already

You're right. It would force them to use the tunnel but the tunnel is lined up with the bridge, right? So, why wouldn't they use the bridge?

Oh, I think a lot will use it. But, as olldflame says, there will be some who choose to live dangerously in the interest of saving time or the trouble of climbing the steps.

From the tracks to the bridge. Problem solved.

News flash: I just heard from a reliable source that there will also be a fence in the median strip from Harvard Street to the county line. That means the students would have to make a mad dash through a busy intersection to avoid using the bridge.

tonight? as in last night? They don't even have the Sam's side half way up yet. Not to mention I've been on Wards today and no bridge.
