That’s 1.1 billion in cash/investments, NOT land/buildings. https://990s.foundationcenter.org/990_p ... 06_990.pdf

It’s been there all along...just go to any 990 finder and you can see it.
Well the last big discussion about this was back in 2011 or 12...the same time we were crowing about 1B in net assets. Things are much different in 2016, for sure. The investment portfolio has grown substantially I over the last five years, but prior to that, out was pretty slim. No need to bring up an 8 year old argument...maybe I should delete my previous post?

From a few states away and not part of the daily Lynchburg/ LU crowd - a few tweets and a couple of poorly worded one liners aside - JR is the man. I prefer him be more Reagan than Trump in delivery - twitter makes everyone look stupid unless you are linking to a well thought out link/response/statement - trying to argue or make a point in a few words is just not high level. I am a Trump supporter but feel completely dumb downed by his tweets that are longer than 60 characters. JR’s knee jerk response of FBI and Photoshop - just not a good look - had he simply waited a day and tweeted a link to the website with all the written answers laid out and provided to the author of article - all this goes away in a day ( other than the twitter Soros paid stooges ).

Intellectual honesty test for you. By your own statements you call for anyone who works at LU to be fired if they drink alcohol. There is undeniable photographic evidence of the Chancellor and a VP drinking alcohol. Are you going to say they need to be fired?
This is just to see if ballcoach is paying attention. Simple question. Wondering if he can be Army Strong and answer

flamesfilmguy wrote: September 12th, 2019, 7:20 pm I legitimately would love to know why you guys still support him. I'm honestly just curious. I used to be a supporter of his. but I guess my limit is a lot shorter than a few on here. I love my school and how it looks and reflects on our beloved University is really upsetting. I owe a lot to Liberty and I want to see it succeed but I also don't want to see it go down a path of self destruction or see it turn into another Baylor(baptist in name only). I WANT to send my future Children there. I think that is the thing that some of you guys who label me as a hater don't understand. You see me as a person who is jaded and hates the school now which is absolutely not true. But I also, As flameshaw so eloquently stated don't agree with everything he does. And right now I'm finding I agree with less and less things as these years go by.

I just think it’s funny how people dismiss people as “haters.” I was a big supporter until I personally had to deal with the version of Jr that’s been reflected in these articles.

Welcome to the club, my guess is 80% of us are not crazy about the old bosses we use to answer to. Get busy and be the boss, see if you can get better results with your subordinates.

First, I’ve never worked for Jr and have been the boss for most of my career, most of which was spent at a company much larger and successful than Liberty (and any company you may have worked for either).

I recently retired from being the boss to devote time to my local community.

Be sure you know what you’re talking about when you respond.

You might be right. 13 years at Piedmont Airlines, 21 years at US Airways and 2 years at American Airlines.

LU 57 wrote: September 13th, 2019, 12:48 pm Does not look like the protest had a whole lot of student participation:
I believe that this protest got caught up by a few bad actors at LU who are known for constantly trying to stir up trouble due to their dislike of the Jerry-Trump connection. The flyer passed around had a picture of Jerry with Trump. If it was an intellectually honest protest decrying the actions of Jr. for being un-Christlike, instead of a personal dislike for Jerry's connections and style, the movement would've actually had traction.

I thought the Jerry/Trump flyer wasn't the best way to go about this. For the majority of people, this is not political and has nothing to do with Jerry's politics or support of Trump. There's a disconnect with some of the current students/younger alumni who were at the school during the Trump years and the people who remember Doc. Jerry (and his supporters) are able to continue to push back at the political side because a minority of people are making this political.

Jerry is trying to abdicate himself from any personal responsibility of his actions under the guise of "it's just business" or "that's how you do business." He's pulling Scripture out of context to support his actions instead of looking at the overwhelming amount of Scripture that talks about how to treat your neighbor.

That's my biggest issue in this entire thing.

It's not politics.

It's not business deals.

It's outwardly living a life antithetical to the Gospel and what a Christian (much less a Christian leader) is supposed to be.

Exactly. That’s what I was afraid that this protest would be. This only gives life to the red herring JR is creating by blaming liberals for all of his problems.

@Jonathan Carone I couldn't agree more. As a recent alumnus, I saw the ones who were super quick to jump on this were those who also supported fringe movements in the past (Such as the LGBT protest). Unfortunately, instead of being about Jerry's un-Christlike actions, a few opportunistic people with bad intentions seemed to hijack this for their own personal political objectives. This is not about politics, this should be about wanting a leader at LU who exudes Christian values. This issue should transcend politics.
