I'm right here in Lburg, and I didn't know either. In regards to alumni, when you are around the campus as much as I am, you soon realize that alumni are really just inconsequential tools to continue building the school. Too bad that you are a nobody unless you choose to make a big spectacle of your contributions to the institution. Too bad JB isn't in charge of the alumni office; he knows how to make people WANT to contribute.

im just happy LU is growing and how much it is impacting the community. I drive through the campus several times a week, because im so excited on what's happening. I will continue to give what i can and continue to pray that God blesses this university as long as it continues the mission that Doc stated.

Glad you asked :) That is where the new Schilling Center is going. I get to look out the door of my office and see the structure go up.They are moving at a very rapid pace right now.

From what I heard there arent any plans for it just yet other than improving the view into campus for cars passing by on 460

For the most part it was fill dirt to level out the land in between the FOC and Green Hall. I think they've also been carting it up to that area behind Wingate. I kinda like the barrier so you couldn't see the highway.

I knew they were going to be tearing down the old one, but didn't realize they were replacing it with a new one. What is it's main purpose going to be?

Not meaning to contradict ole BJ, but according to this week's Champion that location will add 200 more parking spaces for communters and LU employees.
Construction continues on new parking lots
Projects will create 200 new commuter and employee spaces and open up view of campus from Route 460

Liberty University is continuing its building and construction trend as work takes place on several sites on and around campus.

Construction of a new parking lot is taking place on the property beside the Extended Stay America on University Boulevard, where dirt is being moved and the ground is being leveled.

“The main goal of the project was to create 200 new commuter and employee parking spaces and also to open up the view of the campus by removing the underbrush and the ugly mounds of dirt on the property,” Spence said.

Not a problem at all. When I had asked the chancellor about what was going on there earlier in the semester, he made it sound like they were simply clearing that out to make for a better view into campus from 460...I guess they found a use for that area in light of the increased parking issues this semester.

The land being worked behind Wingate just down from snowflex looks like it's going to be a parking lot, so that's probably part of the 200

Is that what you want the world seeing as they drive by campus? And how do you get on 460 west from there? I just think it's a poorly planned spot for parking.

My guess is right turn out, u-turn by Extended Stay and take the exit over by the Ice Center and Green Hall

Well I guess it does kind of contradict the reasoning of providing a better view of campus. But more parking is probably a good thing though considering the growth of the school.

Parking Garage! I know I know, they're soooo expensive, but hey lets save our nickels and dimes for a little while. Maybe Toys R Us would chip in if it were in a spot that would keep TRBCers from taking up their entire lot.
