In the latest Liberty Journal and in other official university releases, the resident campus enrollment goal has been downgraded from 25,000 to 20,000. Any idea why this happened? I would love to see the 25,000 resident goal reached as it will help fill the 30,000 seat football stadium and will perhaps demand another expansion...could we see 50,000 at the Bill?

We have plenty of space for academic buildings and wouldn't need the dorm space, we simply wouldn't gaurantee housing all four years on campus. 25,000 is more legitmate and more "big-time" than 20, would love to see it!

Just a guess: 20,000 resident + 80,000 online = 100,000 total (someday).

Im assuming this. I think realistically Online will be at 80,000 before campus breaks 15,000 but I think it was just to have the even goal of 100,000.

If there is one thing that Liberty does not do, its set big goals and go back later and make them smaller.

Yeah. All that's being done right now is clearing of the land.

I will post more pics to Twitter as we go. @JakeShell . This is all happening right outside my office in Schilling and is fun to watch. This article really excites me - http://www.liberty.edu/news/index.cfm?P ... &MID=37241 as does the new Viewbook for the fall.

If you haven't checked out the fall Liberty Journal or the fall Viewbook I suggest you all get a copy. The two publications are extremely well done and the Office of Promotional Publications should be applauded for their efforts!

I don't understand the Liberty Journal. It seems like they just stop sending it to me every once in a while.

Yeah bwall and the rest of the people over in the Office of Promotion Publications do good work but I don't think they will ever be able to top this years viewbook. Whoever designed that is crazy good

If you're receiving the Liberty Journal at all, then you're receiving all of the issues published. The amount of issues has decreased the last few years...keep me posted on this though and I'll make sure you get one.

BTW today was a crazy day so I couldnt get away...let's try to catch up tomorrow while your still here.

09, Ron Kennedy, Mollie Yoder, Laura Sipple and others in OPP get the credit for the viewbook. They took a different approach this year. In years past, the staff would create a viewbook, bring me the final draft so I could edit it. I was really only able to make minor changes though because the deadline was so close by then. Last year, I took a more active role by giving OPP a list of everything that I thought should be covered in the book. That viewbook did a good job of covering all the major programs and facilities of Liberty and all the local area has to offer but it was definitely substance over form.

This year was the first viewbook done under Ron's leadership. He and Mollie brought in the first draft for us all to review, then the second draft a week later, then the third a week after that and so on. We made improvements with each meeting and they ended up with an incredible viewbook.

The Journal is done by the News Office. We used to do six per year but, since the purpose of the Journal is to be more like a quarterly or bi-annual report, we decided we could save money by doing fewer issues. We will probably only do three or four issues this year. The release date of each issue is determined by the timing of events and important changes at the university so don't be surprised if there is only a 60 day interval between some issues and a 4, 5 or 6 month interval between other issues.

Good question, JakeShell and jcmanson.

One of the "others" was the designer for the viewbook. I may be partial but I don't think they'll be able to duplicate the most recent one without her (she's resigned from OPP). Good thing they still have people like bwall so I'm sure they will come close just not quite as good (sorry bwall  I do have a vested interest in the other designer  )

I'll get you one the next time we get together. It's something used for prospective students. Really does go through all of our "bragging numbers" really well...and in a pretty interesting fashion.

I hope we start to make these publications available on our site through a PDF viewer. I've also hoped for the same thing for the Journal...doesnt cost anything and can only help. Good example Here
