I honestly don't know Purple. That was obviously a "strong bench" back then, and I left out B.R. Laken because he was more of a guest preacher. Hindson and Moon are the only ones in that group who are still with us. I think Moon retired and Hindson "got retired" (from preaching). For years Dr. Ed and B.R. were the only preachers Doc would allow to do the Sunday morning service if he was out of town. I doubt if they could come close to matching that "lineup" now.

Moon passed away a number of years ago. Charles Billinglsley offers great sermons now and then. It';s been awhile since Ed Hindson preached at TRBC.

Eddie Dobson was my favorite back in the day. His teaching had a profound impact on me during my student experience.

I haven't been around in years but Matt was pretty good in his younger days. He certainly had a great resource from which to draw insights over the years.

I’m just still confused why ballcoach claims that the TRBC bench is weak.
He just hides behind the “I don’t wanna put it in writing” weak excuse.

So you’re saying that his opinions are not his own? He has to be told what to think?

Considering he was all about giving Jr a pass and for some reason wants Nasser out like yesterday, I'd say he may be getting things fed to him by his #sources. So yea, that is exactly what I'm saying.

Still doesn’t tell us whether you have original thoughts or not. Since you won’t tell us your issue with Nasser and you won’t explain why you think TRBC doesn’t have a deep bench.

I don’t attend TRBC anymore (left about a year a ago). When we were attending, never had an issue with the substitute preachers for the most part. Some were better than others, but that’s normal. I can’t remember a message that was theologically unsound. Some are just better communicators than others.

I miss my Sunday School life group more than anything at TRBC. It became much more valuable in my growth as a Christian than the main service. We tackled some deep theological ideas and hermeneutics. LOL. Some people in the main service could probably use a little Sunday School.

Is Gutierrez still a bench player for TRBC? If so, he’s about as solid as they come.

And FWIW regarding Nasser’s “celebrity,” he was a pretty big name in the youth group/Christian festival circuit when I was a teenager. Saw him speak after bands like Audio Adrenaline and Jars of Clay once upon a time.

He built his reputation as a speaker primarily through Student Life conferences and camps but carried that well beyond.

Yeah, I remember seeing him at youth conferences during my youth group days. Emotionalism was huge back then so he was perfect for that.

I’ve always wondered what he did before he landed at LU.

He had also planted a church before coming here.

The only good thing Nasser has going for him is how much ballcoach dislikes him. It makes me want to keep him around for a while.

Then I remember how much he enabled Jr and I come to my senses but still....

It’s odd that ballcoach feels Junior did nothing wrong yet wants to run Nasser out of town.
