This is the thing that upsets me the most. My little brother likes his hair long. He will not get it cut for anyone. My mom and grandma have been trying to get him to cut it for years and he won't do it. He wouldn't be able to come to Liberty because of it.

Just so you know what I meant by my earlier post, I didn't mean "accept" in terms of admissions. I meant it from a culture accepting the way someone was perspective. Sorry for not being clear.

Alright ladies lets take another stab at this...

TTL: buddy i don't know what the heck is going on but you have been way off base this entire argument. I don't know what is going on with you but you seem to be posting to get people mad at you or to make fun of you. its like you are trying (and suceeding) in becoming the sacrificial lamb and when someone makes a valid point that doesn't line up with yours you revert to either" if you don't like it leave" or "whoa is me" mentalities. Dude your my friend. and as a friend i'm gonna tell you that you are being ridiculous. people will always disagree with you at some point. its part of life and the real world. take a step back. go and read everything you've posted and when you can sit here and say you posted everything you did with a clear head and calm nerves then i'll be more understanding.

14: I appreciate you thoughts on this whole topic but dude. you are sounding like the poster child for the liberty bubble. let me explain. I have friends who were home schooled their entire lives up until highschool. they did not know any cuss words or even thought about sex drugs and alchohol. they made it one day in a public highschool. ONE DAY. the went home crying because they were ripped up and down and didn't know how to handle it. reason? they were in a bubble for most of their lives and were sheltered from anything considered bad. I'm pretty sure its not that extreme at liberty although i did have a professor tell me one time that he had someone call them on their honeymoon asking what to do. DEAD SERIOUS
I'm pretty sure in the Bible it says to be in the world and not of the world. meaning not in a bubble but not just like the world either. IMHO. Being in the "liberty bubble" Completly defeats the purpose of what the school is trying to accomplish. this school not only is training young champions for christ. it is also a ministry to reach out to fufill the great commission. and to do that since the school can't exactly pick up legs and go to judea and sumeria they need to attract students here. and if that means relaxing non moral rules like dress code and such then so be it.

So having a dress code and a hair code makes this place a bubble? I dont know about that. If youre saying the type of people that come here are those homeschoolers and they end up like a bubble, Im not sure what you can do about that, but allowing long hair WILL NOT make LU any less of a bubble than it is.

I think you're missing the point of FFG's post (I know this because he's at my house and he told me what he was really trying to say). He was addressing the Liberty being a bubble issue moreso than the rules changing. We just had a couple different arguments going on at once.

I know, what i was really trying to get at was that liberty is a bubble. maybe not to the extreme exampoles i mentioned but i garuntee you that most of the kids who leave here and maybe go to a grad school at some state school they are in for a rude awakening.

And what would that rude awakening be?

Seriously, with all do respect, thats fine. If he cant come here because he doesnt want to cut his hair, fine. I mean if the chance happens that God leads him here and he doesnt come here because he wont cut his hair, is that Liberty's fault? No. I mean really I dont care about the hair, long or short or hot pink. I just dont see the logic in saying "I wont go here because I have to cut my hair," and write off LU just for that.

because some things like that are important to people. its like looking for a hotel. if it doesn't have an indoor pool i'm not going unless its so convienient that i can overlook the lack of indoor pool.

AHA that makes sense.

Question: is Liberty University a bubble by itself OR do we just have so many already sheltered kids here that everybody just hides inside this "bubble" that theyve created for themselves?

yea but unfortunatly people like that stuff enough to have that as a requirement for the college they attend. I think its retarded to say oh...well we aren't gonna change and you aren't gonna change so tough luck dude. if the guy really wants to cool let him come. don't let having the dress code or hair code keep good kids with different styles from coming here.

I think Liberty is a bubble by itself. Due to the rules, and the kids being forced to be in by a certain time every night, etc. Coming from a state school, Liberty was definitely a bubble.

Its like this thing in marriage we like to call, "Choosing your battles". Hair and dress code are definitely not battles that should be fought when there are more important issues like drugs, sex, and drinking that should be enforced.

More important than their education(HAHA LU Education)? I just dont see the honest logic in saying no to a school simply because for 8 months of the year for the next 4 years your hair has to be holy crap half way down your ears.

IMO, regardless of what any of you have to say, the hair and dress code will be gone, it's just a matter of time. It was just 6 years ago that all male students had to wear ties, then they took the ties out, then you could wear jeans, etc. It's just a matter of time. I'm sure the curfew wil be abolished as well, but it may be a little bit longer than the others.

The rules make it that? Im wondering if its possible that we have so many people with little to no people skills who live on a campus where everything they will need is on campus.

To an extent you're right. However, at the same time, we have a large amount of kids who have been raised in places where they were always given what they wanted and everyone played nice. They were raised in church and never did anything outside of church. They have no clue how to act with people who are not Christians and disagree with them.
