How could Jesus get even with Satan? Was Satan above Him prior to the crucifixion? Did Jesus owe Satan? Does this make Christ and Satan equals now? Was Christ repaying evil with evil to make things 'even'? If Christ can get even then I should too. There is so much theologically wrong with the concept of Christ not only advocating getting even but getting even Himself it is mind boggling. For if getting even were the criteria of Christ we would not need a Second Coming. We would not need The Messiah. Heck, we wouldn't have even needed the Ark.
As for criticizing Mr Moore n a public forum, what is wrong with that in this instance? His comments were or public consumption, not a private conversation or FF PM ( not that anyone would post a personal FF PM without permission...). And since he is the de facto Spiritual spokesperson for the University, then yeah, it's fair game. No one has made personal rude or vulgar attacks so play on.

Jesus defeated satan on the cross for you and I, not Himself. Thus allowing us to become eternal champions for Him!

Which has absolutely 0 to do with getting even and everything to do with Grace Mercy and Love.

See we agree.

Fig might be on to something here (even if he did put a paraphrase in quotation marks :frustrated ). Can somebody roll back the tape and verify that?

I quoted the entire Trump speech with regards to this above...word for word. People need to read more of my posts, they're actually quite useful :?

Again no one cares what Trump said. The problem is how Moore tried to spin the phrase getting even to be a Christian message. I don't expect trump to be on point theologically but I do expect it from Moore when acting as campus pastor VP of whatever at Lib.

Ok then, if that is the debate, let me play the Trump side (the views expressed are not necessarily my own) -

IF one lives a life of sin, hatred, evil, unbelief, and does not repent before God on judgement day, this is grounds for banishment to the lake of fire, correct?

If that is the case, couldn't one argue that burning in hell for eternity is a form of God "getting even" for a life of sin against him and unbelief?

It is not a case of below or above, rather sinning against, which some forms of sin certainly are sinning against God himself. That angers him does it not? Wouldn't hell then be a form of getting even for said sins against God?

:banghead :banghead :banghead What Trump says is not the issue

And your argument about 'getting even' has so many holes in it, the Swiss are investigating

I am debating our response to what he said, as if our response might have merit.

What is eternally burning in hell if it is not God getting even for a life of sin against him, unwillingness to repent, and denial of Christ?

Again just for the sake of the debate, would that not have some legs?

Lets say one day you go on a date with a girl, get engaged, married and have kids. Sixteen years later your child takes your car without permission. When they return you scold them, ground them, take the keys and tell them they can no longer drive your car. A month later they take your car again. This time you call the police, who find arrest and charge your child with DUI and underage drinking. You ground them until they are 18, take their liscense away, take their phone etc away. A month later you come home and find the car gone again. This time the police knock on your door and tell you they found your car wrapped around a tree and your child dead.
Did you just get even with your child?

The only legs your argument have are of the circa 1970's Eastern European babushka variety

Eternal seperation from God isn't even. It's called a denial of Christ. That person made a conscious decision to reject Christ. Therefore, he will not be with Christ.

That's not getting even. Man chose that for himself.
