I'd end up spending more than a dollar in gas driving between Little Caesar's and Ledo's so I'll stick with Little Caesar's.
From the Timberlake/501 interchange to Ledo's it is 3.1 miles.

From the Timberlake/501 interchange to Little Caesar's it is 2.35 miles.

That is an extra 1.5 miles round trip.

Gas is currently $3.79 per gallon.

Unless you're getting less than 6 miles per gallon, you're not spending a dollar in gas on that extra 1.5 miles round trip.

In all actuality, if your car gets 20 miles per gallon, you're only spending 28 extra cents.

Thanks for the math exercises, guys.

Now spill the beans on what makes Ledo's so good.

I wish I could say just go try it, but you aren't in Lynchburg. You definitely try it next time you are in Lynchburg.

But they don't serve round pizzas. Their pizzas are rectangular and the pieces are in squares. The sauce and bread are very good and its different from your typical pizza sauce. They also have very good choices for toppings and they have buffalo and BBQ chicken pizzas. It's amazing! And like Jon said, you get good value for your money. And I knocked a painting off the wall and they gave me my food for free that night.... haha

It's not your normal pizza. That's one of the things I like about it. It's a sweet sauce. Their toppings are the best part. Every slice has a thick pepperoni on it (assuming you get pepperoni). They use better toppings than any other place I've had, hands down. The sauce can be a little much at times, but the rest is great. It feels you up too. A small pizza is plenty for one person most of the time, and if I'm saying that, it means something.

I'm not a fan of their sauce because like SJ said, it's sweet. But they do have a buffalo chicken option on the pizza as well as on a stromboli. And they use Frank's RedHot which I've always thought was the best flavored hotsauce around.

I always go with the buffalo, just because I am not a huge fan of the normal sauce.

6 dollars for a small pizza is a ripoff when you can get a large pizza for 5 dollars. I don't care how good it tastes. A large Little Caesar's pizza could feed me for a day, while a small pizza won't come anywhere close to that unless their small pizzas are significantly bigger than other pizza places...

I just had a good portion of an Upper Crust pizza...and think I really prefer Ledos. Like Supe said...both are good...but Ledo has a different taste.

Monte Carlo is the first pizza I ever had that I thought was really bad. Maybe I hit them on an off day.

Never could see what was special about Upper Crust.

Vinny's, Lori's and OIP are pretty much equal in quality - just okay.

Ledo is probably the best chain in town.

Lil Cucci's keeps it simple and makes a good pie, but my favorite local joint (since Mama Mia shut down a couple of years ago) is Vito's.

I'd really like to try COJ though.

We were going to stop at Chicago on the James. We saw their flyer and it looked great. When we found the restaurant (assuming this is the one you are talking about) it looked like a hole in the wall. There was no one around who looked interested in serving us and the building kind of had a bad smell. We couldn't believe the place was even in business. We went to the Depot grill instead.

I hate Vinny's. I just feel nasty sitting in there the place is so dirty. It has been several years since I've been there as I refuse to go back, maybe things have changed.

I hate everything else at Monte Carlo's but their pizza and calzones are miles ahead of anyone else in Lynchburg, IMO.
