It seems The Office has rendered much of the Office Space references obsolete to our younger generation. This is indeed sad.

It was a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. You see, it would be this mat that you would put on the floor... and would have different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.

I went tonight. Very nice place. The atmosphere is pretty annoying since college kids are loud because they think they're funny. It's a long wait because kids think it's a hangout and not a restaurant. Turnover is very slow (I feel bad for the wait staff). The menu looked pretty good and had really good prices. The food was pretty sub par. I got a burger and it was very "marriott". It had bleu cheese crumbles that tasted like American cheese. I noticed Liberty Dining runs the place so that kind of explains it.

The big news is that there are giant pictures on the wall of Jerry and I'm in one of them. (The picture of Doc cutting down the nets). I am immortalized.

I think scar is also in the picture but he's taking a picture of something else and his face is covered up. So it might be some other bald black dude in a suit.

I went there on a Sunday morning a few weeks ago and my service was speedy and satisfying. I also went there last Sunday and waited a long while for a seat, but the food came out quick. I enjoy it. Good food and good prices. It's not your typical diner experience, not enough grease. I don't think it would make the cut for "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives".

I ate there this afternoon with Mrs. Cider. She got chicken fried chicken, a baked potato, & green beans; I got their soup & salad--a bowl of chilli & a cobb salad. I was very impressed with the place, and think I even saw SCAR in one of the pics. As far as diners go, I think it's about the best Lynchburg has to offer.

The banana pudding looked wonderful, but I was too full to try it. All the wait staff wear white shirts with red ties, in honor of Dr. Falwell.

Ate there for dinner with the missus tonight...I had the country fried steak with mac and cheese, and the green beans. I thought the meal was very good...but a tad over-priced for what you get. I don't see how the students can afford it. The atmosphere is great, as was the selection on the menu.

Has the service improved? We went just before the grand opening, and everything was wonderful except for the service which put a damper on things.

I guess I'll probably have our family give it a try in a couple of weeks.

Decent place to take them. You certainly do not have to worry about smoking.

I didn't think it was that great when I went. You may want to carry tums with you for desert..

I thought the prices were a little high. The food seemed pretty similar to Bob Evans.

We arrived a few minutes before six last night. We had a large party but I guess we beat the main dinner rush. So we were seated right away in a large booth in the back corner next to the main parking lot.

We scanned the menus and by 6:15 we had placed our orders. Then the wait began ...

By 6:20 most of us had finished off our beverages but that apparently was of little concern to our waitress. We didn't see her again until around 6:40 when she returned with two of the kids meals we had ordered immediately after arriving before the rest of our party had joined us. We wouldn't see that waitress again for another hour plus.

As we pushed to 7pm we began to notice that nearly everyone in the place appeared to be without food like us. But for some reason the party next to us who arrived a half an hour after us was getting served.

By 7:15 it became obvious that this was moving from poor service to a point where perhaps our waitress may have actually left the building.

Around 7:20 I was able to stop a different waitress and pleaded to find the french toast that my son had ordered because he was beginning to get angry due to it being much later than he normally ate. She said she would see what she could so.

At 7:30 the french toast arrived.

Around the same time, Mrs. Sly found the manager insisting on our food. Around 7:45 our food finally arrived albeit cold and overcooked. He also refilled our drinks for the first time. One of our party tried eating his burger but it was so tough he couldn't chew up (probably after being reheated). They replaced his burger with the buffalo salad like I was eating.

Around 7:50 our original waitress bounced by to ask if our food was OK. Most of us were in such disbelief we couldn't utter a word. When she asked if we'd be interested in dessert I guess she could sense the anger and slid over to get our checks.

We checked out around 2 hours after we ordered and our evening plans of vball & hockey were ruined as the kids had to be taken home to bed.

The prices were generally $6.99 to $12.99 for most entrees. But we felt the quality of food for the price was a little steep compared to other nearby options. The service will likely keeping us from returning anytime soon (if ever).

By the way, no one at the place ever apologized to us. In fact the cashier indicated that our experience was pretty standard fare.

You've been warned.

If you are ever in a rush for dinner, go to Dickey's because no one is ever there. Doc's Diner is best in the mid-afternoon, about 3:00 or 4:00, because then you'll be almost the only customer in the place. Seriously, Sly, I'm sorry that Doc's was such a bad experience for you.

In all fairness, the rot has improved like 1,000 times. Being a former restaurant manger for 4 years, they need to realize they need to run the place like one. Secondly, if I was a certain person at Liberty and my dad's name was on the door yet it sucked like it does, heads would be rolling! :nonono

The waitress service pretty much echo'd our experience...did not figure it was the norm, though. As bad as it was, Sly, have you considered writing about your experience to the management and whoever is in charge of the management? That's about as abysmal as it can get.
