i remember when i was at lu driving around the trooper during a snow day...and a kid threw a snowball through my window and hit my dash...

then later when we were out in the intramural field him and his buddies were running around trying to "tackle" people i singled the kid out and drilled him...he laid on the ground for like 5 minutes...

I can't believe we haven't had more of our northern contingent laughing at this thread yet. I'm in Houston and I think it is hysterical.

Sadly the ice storm from a few weeks ago and the side roads today were not laughing matter and im from NJ. I stayed home today to work from home. I don't worry about my driving, it would be a tad difficult, but with all the other reported accidents already.....this town is awful with stupid drivers....then you add snow/ice.....YIKES!

Rocketfan speaks the truth. The timing of it is what threw everyone off...the folks heading to work on 460/29 messed that up, royally, and combine that with the city's grand total of TEN snow trucks...and you have mess. Now, the roads are fine (as of noon).

I will admit LU is NOT very good at canceling classes in a prompt manner...I'm unsure how they do it now but I dont get why they dont just have LUPD and Chief to have the final say in the manner...maybe that's not the answer but isomething better can be done

The original title was something along the lines of "What a bunch of weenies..." in response to LC being closed completely and us being open and on-time, until around 7:30 a.m.

LU certainly was very good at it last year...canceling or delaying the start until 11 AM last year a couple of times for a small dusting...certainly a lot less than what we had today.

LU is the ONLY univeristy in town, the rest are colleges!

From what I was told, a college is only one school with multiple majors/departments, while a university is comprised of several schools/colleges (i.e. like LU has the School of Communications, School of Business, etc...). Thats what I was told, I could very well be wrong though...

Well at the college I used to work at they were organized into schools, like school of business, school of education, etc. and then within each school there are departments. like for the school of business there was the econ department, marketing department, etc.

only other difference i've noticed is univ. offer more masters and doctorates while colleges only offer undergrad and masters and univ. tend to be bigger. am i wrong?
