I don't care whether you think my view is wrong or not.
I didn't ask you to care, and I didn't ask if you cared. I just thought it was important to be a man and let you know.
TallyW wrote:Who are you?
Does it matter? I've said numerous times before on this board exactly who I am and how I can be contacted. (In fact, there will be numerous options for contacting me at the bottom of this post.) That's probably not the wisest decision I've ever made, however, I've got nothing at all to hide. My name is Nick Tripp. I live in Lynchburg. I work at LU and have for several years now. While I don't technically own FlameFans.com (it's Sly's site), ownership is the only part of it that isn't my responsibility. It is operated, maintained and paid for by me. Is that enough or should I FedEx some hair over for a DNA sample?
TallyW wrote:I believe the major issues I've gotten into on the board have been related to morality. If I'm known as the man who acts like a man and speaks up on those issues, I'm okay with that. If I don't make friends on flamefans because of those views... I'm alright with that too.
The problem is that, for the most part, it's never been about your views. Your views could probably be taken in stride if your approach wasn't so arrogant and condescending. But you don't care what I think, so I'll just leave it at that.
TallyW wrote:I expressed already that there is context missing which most of you have that those of us outside of the Mountain don't have. I called a friend who was at the convo and asked and he agreed that in the big picture, it came across appropriately and within boundaries but that in and of itself he could see how without that context it could be taken as insensitive.
It wasn't intended for audiences who don't know the context. In fact, I don't even know who put it on YouTube. It's not like the school did it. In fact, the only reason I posted it here is because I knew there were plenty of people who completely understand the context and would appreciate it IN context. You are the only person who has taken it out of context.
TallyW wrote:This is a message board fellas... I don't attempt to create a persona on here... I've always had my identity public. If people want to know more about me there are tons of ways to find out who I am. Most of the people on this board hide behind fake names.
No,
some of the people on this board hide behind fake names. Most of those people have a good reason for that because this is, after all, a message board focused on athletics at LU. Sometimes public discourse about athletics can be sticky. Anonymity isn't necessarily a sign of cowardice, as you are implying. (Even if they didn't, it's not a wise thing to put your identity out on the Internet the way that I do, so it's hard to fault someone for that.) That aside, I'm really not sure what this being a message board has to do with anything. I understand that this isn't some alternate reality and have never treated it as such. In fact, I know exactly who you are. I have for some time now.
TallyW wrote:I'm fine with the positions I've taken.
Of course you are. You've never ever been wrong or apologetic in your time here. Mr. Right strikes again.
TallyW wrote:So much of what I post about deals with real life. How we treat women, how we consider the poor, how we use language on here... etc. If those are the issues I'm ridiculed for I'm okay with that. I'm a man.
I'm a man, too. If you're implying otherwise about me or anyone else on FlameFans (save our wonderful lady members), then I'd suggest you rethink who's taking things to the lowest common denominator. Again, I may disagree with some of your opinions but those are rarely the problem I have with you. You said earlier that you didn't care what I thought about you. Now you know how everyone else on FlameFans feels about your opinions of them and what they've said on here. That's why you're ridiculed.
TallyW wrote:Go back and read this thread.... it got heated when I was told to take a stick out of my butt.
To quote a certain Schrute: "False." This thread got heated when you posted your opinion. SJ might have been the first to reply, but my reply to you would have been the same even if he had never said a thing. That's just your perception of when things got heated.
TallyW wrote:That's how brave SJ is behind a keyboard and the rest of you guys seem to support it. Classless.
We support him because the vast majority of us know SJ and his heart and don't just pop in to pretend we're better than him from time to time. Most of us talk to him daily on here and have seen his passion for Liberty and athletics at Liberty. Most of us were here to read the story of how he arrived at LU. And a lot of us have spent time with him in person and know that he's a stand up guy with plenty of class. For what it's worth, there's no hiding going on here. FlameFans is a tool, not a cloak. I'd gladly say the same things to you in person that I've said to you here.

Other people paid thousands of dollars to live in crappy dorms that are sliding off into a ravine? Man. Who knew it happened anywhere else?
