I rarely ever drive past the guard shack, but I did today and it just looked weird without it.

The Project Manger for tearing down the guard shack.....i didn't realize we need to pull in the heavy weights for a job that small....an intern could have directed that.

He's responsible for about 25 Million dollars worth of projects right now...I'm pretty sure he's above a intern....it's simple...JJ calls and wants something done he's the one that makes sure it takes place

Im not being harsh on him, what im saying is a figured he was an important man and pushing the guard shack over could have been given to a janitor (based on the complexity of that project)

I forgot to drive by there today...I remember coming back from hockey games and being hassled so much by the rent-a-cops they put in there (At the time LUPD was not a real police dept, so they really were rent a cops)....I remember the group of friends I was with stopped at Denny's after a game one time, so therefore were an hour later then most everybody else...he had us get out of the car for some reason, then he went into the shack, came back out, gave our ID's back, and told us we are lucky he is letting us back on campus. We told him we were at Denny's and he is like, "is that what they are calling it these days ??"...we were all confused, but it was cold and we just said thanks and went on our way.....I could go on and on...but the guard shack holds many memories....

Offer those campus cops a doughnut for a brick. A jelly filled might get you two bricks!

All I can say is I am glad they didn't inspect trunks of cars when I was there. Would have been interesting.

Now even N&A columnist Darrell Laurant is reading FlameFans (and quoting Postman) in his article in today's paper about our guard shack.

Finding symbolism in everyday events is a job for writers. Symbolism R Us, after all. Therefore, although the action had symbolism draped all over it, I hesitate to make too much of the fact that Liberty University tore down its 30-year-old guard shack the other day...So one day, some heavy equipment showed up, reduced the shack to rubble, and hauled away the bricks - to the chagrin of some contributors to the discussion site FlamesFans.com. For a lot of Liberty alums, the guard shack was their version of the Berlin Wall.

I don't know what is more impressive...the mention of FlameFans or knowing someone who actually reads the Op-Ed page of the paper.

Trunks of cars were the quicker alternative to sneaking up the hill across the railroad tracks. Either way you were climbing in through your window even if you were on a second or third floor unless your room was right by the staircase.

At least that's what I heard.

I feel funny now everytime I post. I mean, my response to the very post that was quoted word for word was somethign about postie and his friends being gay. Imagine if that were included in the article. That will always be in the back of my mind now.

Like the first time you watch The Truman Show.

Craaaap.

I just realized that they got the URL wrong in that article. We are flamefans.com not flameSfans.com. That's a Calgary Flames website.

At least you haven't directly criticized the author of the article on this site.

to the chagrin of some contributors to the discussion site FlamesFans.com.
Doesn't Darrell have an extra "s" in the website's URL?

Wondering if Lang turned him on to the message board or if he found it some other way? Good thing he didn't write about Super's Liberty Couples thread, but look for that to be in next week's edition, especially if he gets written up for it.
