Where are you going to get a chicken sandwich for four bucks? Not at any restaurant I know of.

I've known about the place, just never thought about going. I don't go downtown very often. Maybe I should since I live pretty close to it. I normally just get takeout from places though because it's not that fun to get a table for one.

Fast food. That's the only place you can get a chicken sandwich for under 8 bucks.

And.......if you want to take the special someone to a great place serving gourmet food & very reasonable prices......go over to Forest & visit Faria's Twin Oaks. Of course.....special occasions only for me, my wife, & my wallet.

If it's anything like the one my wife got last time it's because it was about half a chicken between the bread. I'm not sure if that's standard fare there or not, but good grief it was huge.

I love the Depot: it's no Chattanooga Choo Choo, but for Lynchburg, it's a great place to eat, especially when real trains go right by. Plus, it's right next to the Lynchburg Fountain shooting up out of the James River.

Oh, is that what that is? And here I was thinking it was a monument to the waste Rachel Flynn spewed all over Lynchburg a few years back.

Its a shame I won't ever have a date, because this sounds like a pretty good place.

And going there alone seems lame and a half.

I wish this thread would've run before we made the trip to the 'Burg. We had this place featured in a previous thread back when FlameFans first opened for business and I was intrigued. I guess I just need to add it to the list for our next trip back to town.

I think the Depot is one of the best places to go in Lynchburg. We hardly ever went there because it's out of the way and we never thought about it. Everything I had there was good. The crab dip is a great appetizer. I thought their prices were reasonable. Another great place downtown is Main Street Eatery. http://mainstreeteatery.com/ It's definitely more upscale (think Crown Sterling-type prices). Crown Sterling was always a favorite of mine for special occasions but Main Street is not a bad choice. Nothing tops Frankie Rowland's http://www.frankierowlandssteakhouse.com/ in Roanoke for best steaks ever but The Library comes close. http://thelibraryrestaurant.com/

New London is another place nobody seems to think about. For those that don't know, it's out 460. Take a left at Sheetz and go a few miles past London Downs and it's on the left. http://www.newlondonhouse.com/ They used to have a special with ribs, steak and chicken for around $20. It was plenty for 2 people.
