As someone who has taken more trips to Raleigh/Durham then everyone else on this board combined (Hey Mrs Purple is going to have a building named after her sitting right next to Coach K's rehab center) the 86 - 29 route is the best way to go. You DO want to take your SECOND 86 exit off of 40. I dont' recall it having you skip Yanceyville, but it does cut off a chunk of time. It also will set you through to a nice little area to get something to eat etc.
If you want a more scenic drive then take 501. Roxboro to S. Boston is a very pretty drive, plus, the Sheetz right there in SoBo is pretty nice. BUT it will add a ton of time IF you get behind a logging truck on 501 you are S O L my friend!

We've arrived in Lynchburg about two hours later than anticipated due to weather in North Carolina. But we've made it nonetheless. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

My next question has to do with parking on campus. We're going top try and make it to convo before the Flames Club in the morning. I know parking is a mess so where do you suggest we park?

Should we park near the FOC and take a bus to Vines? I honestly have no idea. Are there special visitors parking spots that I could take with a some sort of tag?

Inquiring minds want to know.

What are my chances of getting towed or some stupid ticket if I park in those lots?

as long as you park in a non diamond lot you will be fine but with a lot of people coming tomorrow for homecoming chances are that they won't ticket you no matter where you park. i think the only way that they will tow you is if you park illegally.

Either way...your a guest therefore you disregard the ticket....it'll even say to do so at the bottom....you'll be fine though 8)

There are visitors spots in front of DeMoss...but not, I don't think, by the FOC. For this weekend, my suggestion is to park wherever you can find a spot...as long as it is not silver or red diamond.

That's what I wanted to hear. But if perchance you happen to see a white PT Cruiser getting towed, somebody e-mail slyfox@flamefans.com and tell them it belongs to dumb alumnus.

I don't think I've every seen anyone towed...
...besides, Sly...aren't you a featured speaker today for some COMS function? They should be able to hook you up.

The first time I went to a sporting event on campus I parked in the Chancellor's spot. I figured, it was open, I was from out of state, and the police would figure anyone who parked their would be a "FoF " (friend of falwell) It worked too!! :D

They usually only tow if it's an extreme situation. If you're a repeat offender, you get "The Boot".

I wouldn't worry too much about LUPD ticketing in this weather.
