I think the stars are aligning for this thread. Yesterday, on my way into Walmart someone did that thing to me illustrated in the picture above. And to everybody here who says they do it, stop it! you're cutting people off. Just get in the right freaking lane to begin with. You're saving all of 3 seconds because you were able to get in front of all 2 cars. Way to go.

Unless you're actually yielding, that is. Sometimes yield does mean stop, but only when traffic is headed your way. Also to the credit of drivers around here is the lack of acceleration lanes. There are some places in Lynchburg where attempting to do a normal yield is like playing Russian Roulette, but I'm pretty sure we've been over this before.

As for Wal Mart, people seem to have just as much trouble leaving as they do entering. They stop going in, but can't get that three-way stop on the way out. It baffles me.

Here's a question to which I truely don't know the answer to. The old primary exit to walmart there is 2 lanes, because you used to be able to turn left there. But now the median prevents you from doing that so the left lane is completely useless. Except I've seen people make right hand turns into the far lane from there. I really don't think you're supposed to be able to do that, but it's still marked with a straight arrow. It's kind of annoying because I need in that far lane too. But I'm not sure if you're allowed to use that lane or not.

The rapid exit? That was NOT my fault.

Ah, the Walmart parking lot, the crown jewel of Lynchburg civil engineering. My favorite part is the new main entrance they built in between Sam's and Walmart. Not only does it confuse the heck out of Lynchburgers and county folk, but I love how the design was so bad they actually have to permanantly protect the corner guard rails with concrete jersey-barriers. It really adds to the aesthetics of Wards.

yeah, I believe the construction you refer to was them adding giant concrete blocks to protect the previously mentioned jersey-barriers, with some orange cones as the cherry on top for the local drivers who have absolutely no awareness of where they are on the road.
