i just assumed it was because with any employer, most are looking for people who would be worthwhile to their business not be a drain on it
of course I would be a drain on the quixtar business, i want nothing to do with it ever.

Rule number one: never give your phone number to a Quixtar rep.
didn't know she was... she was a friend from work and asked for my number, said she needed to change schedules or something.

I do know that LU has even lower admission standards than LC, and LC's admission standards are so low its pathetic...

Admission standards don't mean jack crap. There's a reason our admissions are low. Have you ever checked to see what those reasons were? It's one thing to get into the school. It's a whole different thing on making the grades to stay there.

SJ is right...the reason why so many students leave has very little to do with the rules despite what people say...it has more to do with the fact that they couldn't hack it...Jerry Falwell's vision was to give everybody a chance to have a college education...and just because you get that chance so easily does not mean its a glorified community college....its not, far from it...and is very respected in several different fields...

LC isn't a bad school, and I really don't think anybody on here feels that way...but dude you come on here running your mouth all the time, do you expect us to stand by and say nothing???

LU has been significantly harder than Coastal was for me. That might not say much to some people, but I didn't think it'd be that way.

its just those dang attendance policies that get us!!

(I hope you get that SJ)

I don't know if I get it or not, but the attendance policies here suck so much compared to Coastal and community college.

think of your class earlier this morning.....and who was or was not in attendance....thats what i'm getting at

actually i hate the attendance policies...i think you should attend 2/3's of the class meetings...but if you choose to not go to class and still do well, then good for them!

Oh yea. Haha. Wow, that was 30 minutes before and I forgot about it. Wow.

Yea, I like the 2/3 policy and you're done. None of this "Two absences and then after that we're taking points off." Screw that. It's an A or an F in terms of attendance. Cut and dry.

Or.. you could be like Bryson and just NOT go to meetings period. He likes getting up at 6:45 on Friday mornings.

there's one that some lady was trying to push on my wife that has to do with some juices. I think that may have even been mentioned on this board once and their was some big argument about some guy's dad doing that.

I would have been an honor student if it wasn't for bad attendance. I used to be so physically exhausted sometimes that it was difficult to walk let alone put on hard sole shoes and and tie and go to class. I would get an A but always get reduced to a B or get a B and get reduced to a C because I would miss 4 classes instead of the 3 allowed. I thought it was ridiculous but I had to accept my fate. If I can get an A in your class without attending them all I should get a higher grade not a lower one. I would say 75% or more of my grades were lowered for attendance because I would usually miss a few for my sport and a couple on my own....As far as admissions standards go, they are a nice prestige thing for a school but has little bearing on how difficult a school actually is. I know several people who have gotten into Harvard with it's difficult admissions but not one of them said that Harvard was difficult to STAY IN. I know these are above average intelligent people but most say their high schools were as challenging as Harvard was at times. My nephew just graduated with honors and was there on an academic full ride and his IQ is almost as high as my weight so he is smarter than the average bear. However even he says that in some aspects, high school was tougher at times than HU. This LC/Liberty thing is getting old. Some of it is because there are way more than us than Shuck but most of it is because Shuck says some uninformed, out of whack stuff that needs to be smacked down and I am really glad to save the keystrokes and have you boys step up for us. I appreciate it.

wait, so does LU have a universal attendance policy for all classes, or do the professors get to choose an attendance policy if they want to?

Personally, I don't think students should be acquired to attend any classes - especially at upper level classes. That way professors wont be teaching to students who dont want to be there and they can teach to the ones who truly care. Also, it helps weed out the stupid people because the ones who wont attend likely won't pass the class unless the professor just teaches the class strictly by the textbook...

When I attended Liberty (late 90's) it was mostly up to the professors for an attendance policy, but I think they were all expected to have some form of a policy.

I agree that for many upper level classes that it should be much more open to absence. On the Freshman and Sophomore levels, there should be a policy. Retaining kids is important for any university. Forcing kids, in their first few years of enrollment, to attend will allow them a much better chance of staying in school IMO. Juniors and Seniors typically have much more invested and probably will be more apt to attend class if it means they could fail.

If I were a professor, I too would rather teach to the kids that want to be there. If they pay me for a service and do not want to take advantage of it, that is their choice. As a university though, I can see why they want kids attending as many classes as possible.

I think attendance might be mandated by the department. I'm sure one of our resident profs could tell us. My business class policies were always up to the individual prof.

There's an overall standard of policy for the university (I think) that allows 6 absences for MWF and 4 absences for TR (at least the SMGT department is that). Professors then take the liberty to say, "You can miss 2 unpunished, at the 3rd absence it's a 5 point deduction on your final grade, etc."

I hate classes where I could pass with an A without coming to class but I'm still required to come and be bored off my butt because of an attendance policy.

At Coastal I had an English class on TR that I could miss 9 times. I missed all 9 and still got a high B.
