Ok. Here in the north nobody sells sweet tea except sit downs and it really isn't that popular. Most the things on the list don't even exist up here!

I've always wondered why 90% of chains end somwhere in PA. Do NYers/NEers not like anything but Wendy's and Taco Bell? I can tell you they do. When carpetbaggers make the trip down, all they want to do is make the rounds to all the different restaurants.

The kind of "sweet tea" that I dispise the most is the kind that comes out of the fountain, like at Subway or Country Kitchen on Lakeside. Fresh brewed is the only way to go, but Tradewinds tea from Sheetz, though it comes in a plastic bottle, tastes exactly like it was fresh brewed.

Us real men these days are worried about out figures, so we must watch our sugar intake. So when you cram in those extra cookies or second piece of cake or pie, be glad you stayed away from that Sugary tea.
Riiiight. Because there's no problem with obesity or diabetes in America today. And if you're concerned with your health you can't possibly be a real man. Come on dude. No need to tie machismo to real health concerns.

If you want to bring pie into it, I'd much rather get my calories in a slice than in a few glasses of sugar water.

I'll second the quality of Tradewinds. I'll add that it's available at many gas stations with decent-sized food marts, not just Sheetz.

I'll throw Lipton Southern Style (extra sweet no lemon) into the mix as well. I used to buy that stuff quite often.

Knuckle, once you have sampled the bottled Tradewinds sweet tea, let us know what you thought of the taste.

My wife is from Connecticut. She thought the idea of sweet tea was adding a sugar to a glass of iced instant tea. Being from the great state of North Carolina, I showed her what real sweet should taste like & how it is to be made. Now, she loves it, as does her younger sister. My roommate off campus during school was from New Jersey; he was turned from the Dark Side as well.

Your wife and her sister are poor representatives of the Nutmeg State.

For those of you who voted for Bojangles, they are running a special now: the restaurant was founded in 1977, and since this is their 30 anniversary, they are offering their largest iced tea for only 77 cents.

This is one of many things I don't understand about Northeners. Sweet hot tea is normal. Sweet hot coffee, also normal. Sweet iced coffee, perfectly acceptable. SWEET ICED TEA?! THAT'S WICKED RETAHDED!!

I've lived in the north and in the south and though the sweet tea in the south is much sweeter, and while living up north (Maine) it was very common to find sweetened tea almost anywhere...from gas stations to restaurants

maybe it just depends where you live or something

Cider

Finally tried the Tradewinds tea today. I had the regular sweat tea. It was pretty good, not as good as my own mind you, but pretty good. It had a mild, refreshing taste that's not too sweet. Most of all no phony lemon flavor. I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

This thread is pointless. Tea, in general, is disgusting.

Knuckle, I'm glad you liked the Tradewinds. For my money, that's the best bottled tea on the market, and I even like the shape of the plastic bottle. Nothing is probably better than home-made tea, but Tradewinds comes pretty darn close in my opinion.

On a side note, has anyone tried one of those automatic tea brewing machines at the convenience stores? These are the kind where you fill your cup up with ice, and then the tea is brewed before your very eyes in a couple of seconds. On my way to the Bluegrass Festival in Sedalia last weekend, I stopped at a gas station on 501 North/Boonsboro Rd. that had one of those ice tea machines. If you like really sweet, sweet tea, those machines do a pretty good job (hint--that's another type of store-bought tea for you to sample, Knuckle).

OOO, we could make it the Flame Fans Tea Scavengerhunt game. I feel a reality show coming on! CJ and Knuckle drive all over town trying and rating sweet tea.
