the fans arent the losers, it's some of the teams that are. and yes I know LC has some losing teams, but other than the men's basketball team (because bball is my favorite sport), I don't watch the losing teams any.

i'd rather be "wasting my time" watching a winner than watching a bunch of losing LU teams play in the lame Big South. Yeah ahve fun knowing most of your teams will never be able to compete on the national scene, while some LC teams are competing on the national scene NOW. and I could care less rather they ahve 15,000 fans at the game or zero. I dont go to a game to socialize with a bunch of people, I go to the game to watch the game.

1) If the Big South is lame, what the heck is the ODAC?

2) Losing LU teams playing in the Big South? Hmm, let's see:

a) Football had biggest turnaround in the country in 2006.
b) Football is a preseason top 25 team.
c) LU football has the best playing surface in the state of Virginia.
d) LU football has the biggest weight room in the state of Virginia.
e) Women's basketball sucks because they came in something other than first for the first time in eleven years.
f) Men's basketball is horrible because they finished 3rd with an incompetent head coach and bring back the most talented team in the conference and add a seasoned coach.
g) Women's softball just won the conference
h) Men's baseball reached the conference championship game for the second straight year in a row where they ran into the 11th ranked team in the country.
i) Men's tracked finished 22nd in the country.
j) Wrestling sent 5 guys to regionals in the first year of having a program.
k) One of the top-5 runners in the country wears Liberty colors.

3) Our teams will never compete on the national scene:

a) Men's soccer lost 1-0 on a very late goal to the then #1 team in the country (UNC)
b) Women's basketball beat UVA in their home opener last year.
c) Josh McDougal. No use saying more.
d) Softball beat 3 ranked teams last year.

I have nothing against LC and what they do over there is great. The thing is, DIII is a step up from high school. Division I Junior College is tougher competition than Division III. NAIA Division I is as good or better in a lot of cases. I'm not taking anything away from LC, but when you compare them competing on a national level to LU competing on a national level it's just stupid. In baseball (forgive me Fumble, I have to go here), I know of American Legion teams that can compete and win the ODAC.

If you want to rip what Liberty used to be, then more power to you. However, if you're going to rip the school that I'm currently a student at, that I currently "waste my time" in supporting, then you better come with facts and not general assumptions that really make you look like an [Edit: Come one, man - Sly].

Speaking of the Hillcats...during my days at LU (then LBC), it was the Lynchburg Mets and I was able to catch a few games with a rising phenom by the name of Darryl Strawberry (1981). Who knows the numbers tha man could have put in the books had he stayed clean and sober, but then again, look at the numbers Bonds has put up....and he hasn't been clean for years.
I also find myself wondering what Griffey Jrs numbers could have been had he not been so prone to injuries.

Those may have been put up at the last minute. I really don't know. Everything else with the camp is first class.

with all due respect shuk, LC lax is not a national power. you have won 2 ODAC titles in program history. i could not find any archived rankings but if you only have two ODAC titles you have not been to the NCAA tournament much because usually the ODAC gets two berths the champion and runner-up. i doubt you would be in the top 5, much less top 10, but if you have facts to prove it, then fine. in baseball you have not won an ODAC title since 1990. track is your best sport there and mens soccer is occasionally good.please tell me what national scene you are competing on??? im not ripping LC, but obviously you have not seen what is offered at LU. There is a big difference in D1 and D3 athletics. so come check it out this fall.

Sorry I missed the party last night. I would like to point out that the following appeared on the TOP of medic's list of reasons why LU IS competitive on the national scene.

out of curiosity, do you consider our track and field athletes competing at nationals and finishing top 5/ top 10 as "Competing on the national scene now" ?

SJ also included a couple of track references in his "little" list. Fortunately, none of the words regarding track had to be edited.
